Forums - Gaming - The single player experience.

Multiplayer seems to be the aspect of games that is becoming the most important nowadays.  I think this is too bad.  Hear me out, I have nothing against multiplayer, I just hate it when it takes away from the single player experience.   I always play games solo and am a fan of the immersive nature of a game, of it's story, characters, music and charm.

So, in an attempt to keep the rich single experience alive, let us share our favourite solo games.

1.  Enslaved: Odyssey to the west.  I did not hesitate to buy it first day.  10 hours of pure magic and amazing characters.  I took my time with it to really get into it.

2.  Alan Wake.  Disturbing atmosphere at it's best.  And the way that it's presented, amazing.

3.  Dead Space 2.  I know there is some multiplayer in it, but they KEPT the single player experience truly great.  This game respects the solo player.  Thanks!

4.  Assassin's creed: Brotherhood.  Same as above.

Please developpers, some gamers are looking for something besides Halo, Call of Duty, Homefront and all of the other FPS.  Don't forget us in the name of money.  In 30 years, nobody will remember Black Ops, but Ico and Shadow of the COlossus will be forever remembered as art.  You can still do it.  Some of us will follow.

Proud owner and supporter of the YAKUZA games!

I like SIngle player games aswell but most of them are way to short.. Their are just not that many long Single player games :s..I maybe own 10-15 this gen games that lasted longer than 50 hours and were still fun to play :(;  Except for Halo Reach I am not a big MP fan either.

If you're looking for a great single player experience, I would suggest:

  • Ghostbusters: the Video Game
  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Vanquish
  • Fable series
  • Mass Effect series
  • Oblivion
  • Fallout

And more more.  Call of Duty and what-not may be the most current talked about game but that doesn't mean there's any shortage of great single player games out there.

WHile I agree single player is most important to me too. There are a ton of single player games on all the consoles. If you are not finding enough on the homeconsoles the handhelds are full of great ones. If you like JRPG's both DS and PSP are full of them.

Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sims, and any Zelda game would do the single player gamer good. :)
