Basically it simple: no medium gets accepted unless its accepted by the porn industry. Blu ray is in because the Porn Industry has embraced HD content. Now Penthouse 3D is the the first full 3D content channel thats launched in Europe. So it seems that the porn industry is starting to embrace 3D and if it does get more accepted then its here to stay. 

But like all mediums it doesn't take overnight for it to be embraced by all and use by the mass consumer. DVD wasn't used as soon as they were released. 3D will take another 2-3 years when all New TV are 3D capable like full HD was an few years ago and 3D monitors grow. Then Porn 3D will become reality and 3D will boom in content because of it.
