Opera is still my favourite browser, been using it for few years and tbh no complaint except recently where I just started to randomly crash every now and then.

no... lol, chrome gets updates almost daily, sometimes twice a day, at least twice a week. ff also has weekly updates available (you can probably even find daily updates from some places). micrsoft is the one who is always behind lol.

thats not how that works, there are no specific set of coding tools, there is code and what makes a platform good is being able to run lots of different code, old and new, efficiently. ie9 cant run things that other browsers can so its not as up to date as the other browsers

As a software developer for web based applications for a world leading defense contractor that forces us to code to IE and secondary FF (for its rather small Linux userbase), I fully understand IE's historical issues and having plenty of non-standard design.

However, IE8 and IE9 were moves to standardization and IE9 specifically brings HTML5 and other technologies to the forefront while neglecting others. This is what my point is regarding why IE9 is having button issues on this site.

Its the same issue to why all mobile browsers (I am 99% sure all) also don't play nicely with this site's buttons. However, in IE9 and those same mobile browsers there is no site I've found elsewhere with the same issues.

This leads the the most obvious conclusion that the tools used to build this sites tools, in particular the thread posting buttons and boxes, are something that is not a standard but more of a tool specific. I'm not sure what that is, but I am sure ioi has some set of codec/jdks/packages/api/whatever that is specific to that UI and it is not compatible with IE9 and from what I've seen any mobile browser.

I'd suggest, replacing those with something more common as that will cause less issues as well as allow mobile use of the forum without having to create mobile specific pages or apps.

Hell, maybe the issue is that this site wrote IE specific code for IE browsers that is no longer relavant with IE9 as its moved on to the standards and its being recognized incorrectly. Meaning, that code will need to differentiate IE9 from older IE browsers and in IE9's case use the standard set similar to FF/Opera etc. idk, I haven't seen the source, just a thought.

The major reason for this is that they didnt have to code for XP, IE9 totally drops support for the OS which is a good thing. Now if only they would actually speed-up DX to function like the console version (yes DX 360 is superior to DX11 because it handles draw calling faster which allows for better handing of duplicate objects like trees on the CPU). Otherwise OpenGL 4.2 better be standard for all PC developers.

I was loyal to firefox for as long as I can remember. Then a friend was laughing at me when he was over, and told me that I needed to get Chrome and promised me I wouldn't regret it. I was skeptical, although I had heard good things about Chrome so I took the leap of faith. I don't think I will ever use another browswer again for the rest of my life. Even when I occassionaly accidently boot up firefox, it's so much slower, laggy, (in comparisson to Chrome) this is on 8GB of ram. You know what they say, "once you go chrome, you never go back" I know this is about IE9. I honestly think IE has gotten such a bad reputation among browsers that it is going to be extremely hard to restore that reputation. I for one am going to DL it to see what its all about, but nothing would ever get me away from Chrome. So lighting fast, simple, and smooth.

I tried Chrome and it was same speed as ff and due to lack of good abp i received more hits on spybot search and destroy.

Just installed FF4 RC1 and it destroys all others. Plus buttons on this site work. Final build launching on March 22.

Its not a vgc problem, it happens in multiple sites, it is xmlhttp issue or something er rather. It has to do with more or less java and a browser not working properly. Chrome and firefox have other problems but apparently to make it work faster IE is apparently skipping things and the programming didnt work.

Due to not being able to quote posts and other issues, I'm gonna stick with Chrome (for now at least)

So far Chrome's been great - only been lightly surfing till now, maybe tonight I'll try stressing it a bit - It looks great but it's hard for me to navigate quickly (favourites?)

I like how simplistic and clean it is - - - - It's like IE with a face lift and fat removed - how's that for a description XD

The good:
- Interface is better
- Loads everything faster

The bad:
- it's still crappy when compared to Chrome and FF4

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

I like the new IE feature where you can put sites on your taskbar, makes it faster a bit and some sites have more support for it. Yet I still prefer chrome just bucause I still used to it.....and because it has a spell check ! .....  and because I have some dificulties writing this comment!

I was so impressed & about to post how cool it was... until I realised i couldn't quote you using IE9 roflrofl totally killed my excitement XD

Still a really cool feature though

PS: Does anyone think these issues might be fixed soon (by MS or VGChartz) or should I just stick to Chrome for now??
PPS: Is there an easier way to show your favs in Chrome other than the toolbar? And opening the specific tabs I want from my favs is really annoying since I have to go [click on bookmark folder-->click on site] every time for each site instead of just opening them one by one while the fav tab stays open like in IE
