Forums - Sony - NGP wi-fi for 250$ , 3G for 350$ ?

http://kotaku.com/#!5782436/ngp-to-be-priced-at-250-but-also-350

A survey conducted yesterday by research firm Toluna, and sponsored by publishers Ubisoft (it was labelled "Ubisoft- NGP concept- US Adults"), says that "the retail price of the Sony NGP is expected to be around $350", and asks the respondent "How likely would you be to purchase the Sony NGP now that you know this retail price?"

That's for the premium model, the one with 3G. The next question, however, says that the version of the NGP shipping without 3G connectivity will be priced considerably lower: at $250.

This might be just speculation on Ubisoft part but still if real I'd be extremly happy with 250$ on low end model and it'd put a lot of heat on Nintendo.

Um, what?

$250 would put a lot of heat on Sony too, for the amount of loss they would be selling it at!

Well, I gave just as much proof as him.

We don't know, maybe they have found a way not to lose a ton.  They stated they realized pricing errors this gen.  Truth is, we don't really know.  My speculation was merely more optimistic than his.

That is pretty realistic, but I still think the cheapest NGP would be 299, but if I'm wrong and ends up at 249...theres gonna be a handheld war and Nintendo will be forced to drop the price of 3DS. Either way 249=Epic Win.

I reckon thats where it needs to be priced.  The PSP was way too expensive based on the competitor (the DS) at the time.  This created part of the problem for it seeing as in the UK there was a £50/£60 of a difference.  The 3DS is priced at £219/£229 in the UK and ideally if they can get the NGP at just over £200, then they have a better chance than it being £250 .

In either case, the NGP will most likely be sold at a loss initially, as if it releases at £250 for the WiFi only version then they are onto a loser straight away.

Ideally, if they can launch the NGP at $250 in the states and £199 in the UK, that would be brilliant, but doubt it to be honest...reckon it will be £219 in the UK or more.

** on another note, the PSP Go is hard to come by in the UK, hardly anywhere is selling it and I've seen it at £135/£145 compared to the launch price of £225/£250.  I fully expect the PSP to be reduced to £99 shortly as well, and it wont be long before we have a permanent sub £200 PS3 as well

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
