Once you recover an account to the xbox the same account on a difference xbox goes dead, if you earn any achievements on the other account that is dead they won't count. When you try to sign onto xbox live on the old account you won't be able to due to some error screen coming up saying that you need to do recovery again, so you can only connect account to 1 xbox at any given time, and if you want to connect on some other xbox  you'll need a USB stick or recover the account. If you recover the account and the old xbox goes online and syncs with the XBL servers you can't play the XBLA games on that old xbox anymore.

So to conclude, I think if the old xbox stays offline there shouldn't be any problems of playing XBLA games on it offline.

This is wrong.

You just can't sign into the account once you move it, the option won't be there so you won't have to worry about not gaining achievements on it or anything like that.  Your profile can be connected to any number of Xbox's as long as you actually have your profile with you.

The license transfer is only so you don't have to download the game again.  You can still download that game on another Xbox under your profile and play it and even gain achievements.  The only thing you have to worry about is keeping your profile mobile with a USB stick.

if you recover your account on the new 360 from your old then you should have no problems the way i see it.

just use the same account on both systems and it will save you some much needless stress.

as far as i know it lets you have complete control of you id on 2 consoles. That is the impression I got when I was reading about it and then lead to me getting my transfer cable.

Nope only 1.

@OP

It's quite simple.

1. Any Xbox signed in with profile used to purchase gamesdlc = full game.

2. One Xbox can have license to use gamedlc when not signed in = this will be the console the item was purchased through, the first console the gamertag that purchased the item you sign in with if purchased through xbox marketplace on the net.

3. If you did the 12 monthly license transfer = all license are transferred that have been purchased already, new purchases obviously still only get linked with the box that was used to purchase them = they don't automatically go to the new box each time.

4. If you do the license transfer but never ever connect the xbox that originally owned the content to the net after doing the transfer - you can continue playing on 2 xboxes without being signed in, since the original xbox won't be able to have it's licenses deactivated.

5. You can just "recover profile" each time you want to play full games on any Xbox, you won't have to download the games again if they are already downloaded but recovering a profile takes a good 5-10 mins normally for some reason.

6. Even if your gamertag is present on 2 xboxes - it will ALWAYS need to be recovered each time you sign in on one xbox after signing in on a different one. Complete pain in the arse and prevents this from being a satisfactory solution for owning 2 consolessharing content between them. You will also lose achievments if you don't sign into Xbox live to avoid the hassle of recovering profile -> play a game -> unluck achievments -> recover profile -> those achievments will be removed and not added to the recovered profile.

6. If you have a memory unit you can take your profile with you and it won't need to be recovered as in 6. Still abit of a pain in the arse but the only real solution

From that you should be able to work out anything.

Well I don't know if I phrased it wrong somehow, I've recovered an account on friends Xbox, then went home and played some Split/Second without recovering my account back, assuming that it would just sync my new achievements next time I sign in. It didn't. It reset all of them back from the ~600 or so down to the original amount I had when I transferred my account, so about 90 or so. I've somehow managed to lose 510. After I've recovered my account back to my 360 my friends 360(on which we DLed Castle Crashers which I've brought a while back) couldn't be played.

Yeah thought that was wrong, or people would just transfer to many consoles and only one would have to buy things for many... makes sense

^^^Well I know that as long as I'm logged in to Xbox Live and the game is present, I can play XBLA games on any Xbox 360.  I can go to my sister's house and games that she has as demos turn into the full fledged game when I log in or recover my profile.  I know I'LL be able to play my games.  I just want my daughter to be able to play 360 games on the original 360 AND I want to be able to use that Kinect online when my Wi-Fi adapter and Power Supply arrive from amazon.com.

--I wonder if we can log in at the same time, too.  That'd be awesome!

I know you cannot be logged in at the same time. I have a few GFWL games on my computer and if i am logged in on my xbox than switch to a computer game it logs me out of live on my xbox.

Finally did the license transfer yesterday (M$ notified me by email instead of phone call) and transferred about half of my games to the new 360.  Those games/DLC worked great online AND offline.  I also recieved my Wireless Network Adapter from Amazon.com, yesterday (my Amazon deliveries come to my sister's house so I can avoid fighting my GF over money I blow on gaming).  I took the old 360 online, too.  All of the games still work on that old 360 AND the new one!!

I couldn't be happier and I think it's fair, too.  My kid and I have our profiles and game saves on USB Flash Drives and the games are on both consoles.  We can play whatever we want, wherever we want!!
