Forums - Gaming - Region codes need to F***ing Die already

Who else is with me on this.  I've been loving the fact that on the PS3, PSP, and NDS - I can import Japanese games and not be punished for legally purchasing a product.  It's too bad that Nintendo had to reinstate the stupid scheme with the 3DS.

I do know it's so the distributors can make their money, but I think it's really time to change the system a bit because the gaming / media world is becoming more global.

Honestly, region codes only seem to punish honest / legitimate buyers that aren't pirating - but actually supporting a product.  The only type of hacking and circumvention that I do agree with is to get around stupid region codes.

Also, if you travel internationally alot, it's a realy pain in the ass  that they expect you to buy multiples of the same device.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Around the Network

I'm with you on this. As a European player I'm still waiting for e.g. Arc Rise Fantasia, but Marvelous has no plans on releasing it here (probably because of the crappy US version).

Crap like this is the reason why I hope for some kind of Homebrew Channel on the 3DS.

Seriously, if a game I want stays in Japan/America or would be released in a state I don't want the game to be (e.g. an Anime game without japanese voice-acting, RPGs with bad english voice-acting like ARF), I want to buy the japanese version and play it on my PAL system, even though I don't understand much.

I just want the NGP to avoid this nonsense..I want my Bleach fighting games

Its one thing I love about handhelds and PS3. Living in Europe, lots of (Japanese) games don't make it over here. I also modded my PS1 and PS2 so I could play imports.
