Microsoft has begun contacting Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers with details on the official pre-order campaign for Gears of War 3, including new details of the bonuses available to those who access the beta testing phase for the game. Gears of War 3 is coming exclusively to Xbox 360 this autumn – but gamers pre-order it now will get access to the beta, launching on Monday 25th April on Xbox LIVE.
Those who participate in the beta testing phase for Gears of War 3 and complete a match will unlock the ‘Beta Tester’ medal, a badge of honour which will carry over to your gamer profile in Gears of War 3. What’s more, players can unlock Thrashball Cole to play as Augustus Cole as he was before Emergence Day - a legendary athlete known for his ferocious style – as well as the gold-plated retro Lancer. Before the chainsaw bayonet came the original Lancer assault rifle, with a large fixed blade, and players of the Gears of War 3 beta testing phase will be able to unlock the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer for their Gears of War 3 gamer profile.
