Sony, Heavy Rain Lead 10th Annual NAViGaTR Awards
It's time for the 10th annual National Academy of Video Game Testers and Reviewers Corp. Awards, and a voting body of 640 game media critics, analysts, and journalists have settled upon a total of 250 nominees in 52 separate categories.
You can read up on all the nominations and honorary awards when you check out the press release, but here are the relevant award details: Sony is the leading publisher for nominations - as it has been in past years - with 35 nominations, while EA and Microsoft are tied for second with 21 nominations. These are followed by Nintendo with 18, Sega with 15, Ubisoft with 14, Activision with 12, Square-Enix, Rockstar and 2K Games with 11, and THQ with 10. And the #1 nomination-getter? Quantic Dream's spectacular and progressive Heavy Rain, with a total of 18. As you might expect, it's in the running for Game of the Year, along with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Darksiders, LIMBO, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
If you want to look at other leading games, you should note that RDR and God of War III netted 11 nominations, Mass Effect 2 and Brotherhood got 10 apiece, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Bayonetta scored 7, and as a point of interest, Final Fantasy XIII got 5 nominations. All the winners will be announced tomorrow.
Think we're going to disagree with Heavy Rain's domination in the nomination field? ...don't think so.
