how do i do this and is this the best way to get my old information to my new PS3?
I've never done it myself but I know you need to have the same firmware on both PS3's... you probably have to deactivate the "old" PS3 from account management, connect both PS3's with an ethernet cable and use the data transfer utility in settings (I think).
I suppose it's going to take a while depending on how much used space you have in your PS3.
And yeah, it's the best way to transfer stuff because it lets you transfer even the copy protected save files to another PS3, the HDD backup method will only transfer the non copy protected save files to another PS3, it only transfers the copy protected ones if you transfer it to the same PS3 that created the back-up.
Everything will be erased from your current PS3... it's a transfer, not a copy.

It dosent erase everythink, some downloaded games wont work when its deactivated, some other games will.
I transfered all stuff to my new Slim, my sister i using old one with my games on it. (She is not conected to PSN though)

I see :O I thought it would transfer the stuff like when you click on cut and paste instead of copy and paste on a PC, it only moves the file. I guess I was wrong :O
