Here is the most recent US poll on MJ legalization from The Economist

The most interesting thing about this to me is how that the younger you are the more likely you are to support MJ legalization in the US. What this means is, as more elderly people die, the more likely Marijuana will be legalized because there are less people likely to vote no.

Seems logical to me.  The older generations were hit heavy with massive anti-marijuana propaganda.  While the younger generations have kept more of an open mind and have looked at all sides of the issue.  Most of the time once one is influenced by propaganda they would rather stick to their stance rather than flip sides once they find out contradicting information.  That would make them have to admit they were wrongly influenced into believing something they were fed (would make them look gullible / stupid).  With the information age we are in now it is harder and harder for anti-marijuana propagandist to spew their lies without being rebutted with actual facts.

O_o

Don't be a fool. Smoke that weed!!!

LMAO I think I will give it a try.

That's the spirit!

Holy shit a lot of applications to fill out I need a doctor's recommendation. This is going to be a looooong process!

Might be long process however it would probably be safer (since you would be a medical marijuana patient) and cheaper (usually cheaper for people that can go and buy from distributor rather than drug dealer) for you in the long run if you plan to smoke every once in awhile.  I haven't heard of your type of medical condition (I'll look it up in a sec).  However, if that medical condition causes pain etc then perhaps marijuana would be able to help you.  Marijuana can help relieve soreness and act as a pain relief.

Edit:  Just looked into your medical condition and you would be perhaps a perfect candidate for medical marijuana (Ulcerative colitis is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects the large intestine (colon) and rectum).  Marijuana would ease your abominal pain, prevent weight loss, and possibly help digestion.  You should also look into eating foods that are very helpful for your stomach/digestive tract.  Such as my favorite food yogurt!  Eating a lot of yogurt and other digestive friendly foods will only help your condition.

On the point of finding weed illegally.  I would suggest to just ask friends you know that use it.  If they are your true friends then they shouldn't rip you off.  Also, you don't have to worry about them being a possible undercover agent (however it would be stupid for police to try and go after users that just buy small amounts; they usually go after dealers and try to work their way up (although, they might bust users and try to get them to narc out their dealer)).  So basically stick to close friends when asking about it.

Cool, if you think it would be worth it in the long run (to save money) then perhaps i will keep looking into it. The only problem I can see is getting a doctor's support. There's no way the specialist I see (like once per year) for my condition would support it because I've been fine for the past couple years (I'm on some pretty effective medication already) and haven't had any symptoms of UC in a long time.

And thanks for the tip. I pretty much just did what you were saying. I actually ended up getting a bit of weed last night and I got a couple potential hookups for the future.

Hey how much of a shelf life does weed usually have? Is it good for a long time or should I smoke it soon before it goes bad or whatever happens.

I'm a white widow man myself.

Yeah the amount of people the approve picks up from people who were young in the hippy generation. I also think that when your forced ed to take drug awareness classes and they tell you things suggesting MJ is as bad as cocaine and do not give many real facts just horror stories it does not work.

When people grow older many of them try it and realize they had been lied to. They did not become addicted, freak out, or even have a hangover. I think this can be bad because it instill a distrust of authority in some people. If you public intitutions are lying to you via public shool and the media than why should you trust those in power?

When I talk families fall apart I am talking violence and sexual activities brought on by drinking. Personally a friend of mine assualted me because I took his drink away, he then proceeded to yell at everyone around after he took a leak in the parking lot. He turned more violent saying people were looking at his junk. He was swinging his arms like a mad man and people were running away and/or laughing.

Another of my friends was drunk and we went out to McDonalds. While we were their he started hitting on one of the girls working in the resteraunt. He was yelling "You know you want my dick" and at one point tried following her into the kitchen. Me and two other friends grabbed him and returned him to the table. But he kept yelling and screaming sexual things to the girls working their. Finally we pulled him our of the McDonalds and brought him home.

I've watched stories on the news about molestations and rapes occuring when the guy was drunk. Then later on the guy was so hammered he blacked out and didn't remember a thing. Then theirs also been murders when someone goes nuts after getting drunk. Suicides caused because alcohol increases emotions and makes the depressed person even more depressed to the point they kill themselves.

Just watch Cop's or the news. Hundreds of stories about drunk people hurting innocent bystanders.

What if we never pulled my friend out of the McDonalds and prevented him from going back into the kitchen following the girl? What could he have done? He was blitzed out of his brains. Or my other friend who punched and attacked me for taking his drink then tried attacking other people?

I also know several friends who think they can drive drunk, sure what they do to themselves is okay but drinking makes you dillusional.

Drinking kills so many people and ruins so many lives. Even the people I know who drink would do terrible things drunk. Nothing good comes from getting drunk and it can't lead to anything good. So why should it be legal?

First of all, WTF were you doing at a McDonalds? That's an evil capitalist junk food restaurant chain!!!

Second of all, that only happens if you get drunk, and no one says you need to get drunk when you drink. Spme studies have shown that in mdoeration alcohol can actually be healthy. And ultimately alcohol is part of our culture, and plays an important role in social situations, rituals etc. How would people be able to watch boring things liek sports, if there was no alcohol? Trying to ban alcohol would be like trying to ban religion. No matter how rational your arguments, people don't always listen to such arguments.

Also, USA has already banned alcohol and we all know how that turned out.  Now you have Mexican drug lords running rampant near the USA border.  They have a diverse line up of products such as cocaine, heroin, marijuana, etc.... that are in demand in USA.  Keeping things illegal allows them to make huge profits.  I am not advocating legalizing the other drugs but what else are we supposed to do?  Keep fighting a pointless and never ending drug war?  Lets throw countless billions at a war that will never end (that seems the most "rational" idea that our politician can come up with).  Sure they have to take the stance "Drugs are bad mmmkay".  However, it is time to grow up.  You can't prevent people from wanting / doing drugs.  If someone wants to do something they will do it (especially when it comes to drugs).  Other ideas need to be explored.  It is stupid to group Marijuana with almost any drug since it trumps all drugs with being the safest and least damaging to your body.  USA citizens need to wake up and demand that at least marijuana be taken of its schedule 1 drug category.  To group it with the likes of heroin is just plain stupid.  USA is so far in debt that legalization of marijuana would be a God send to the economy.  That is okay though lets keep going down the same path we are and then eventually the dollar will be worthless and USA will be forced to have a revolution due to the corruptness that our joke of political system has become.

I don't think you meant to quote me. I'm all for legalizing marijuana.

I have smoked ingested shot up most drugs known to man kind, and  i have come to the conclusion that as far as legalisation or decriminalisation goes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't , just as prohibition never worked repealing it didn't make everything  rosy either, There are health concerns for marijuana just has there are for other drugs , paranoia psychosis emphysema , increased incidence for people with a schizophrenia tendency to become schizophrenic. Even so  it makes no sense to keep it illegal but not much sense to make legal either, unless governments are prepared to  spend the majority of money from the tax revenue from cannabis on health and other issues and there track record of spending the majority of tax money from specific products on alleviating the harmful effects of those products is poor.
