Forums - Sony - Killzone 3 Ending. SPOILERS!!!!

I think the ending was a jumbled mess. The campaign had it's moments, but fell short for me.

Couldn't agree more.

The pacing felt off so that intereting moments were over before you could really appreciate them. Take the ending for example. I don't want Kojima style storytelling (going on and on and on and on), but come on.

I tend to agree. Plot was good, pacing was poor. The ending was far far too rushed, and the idea of all of Helghan being wiped out and then it just cutting off like that doesn't sit right with me. If a whole planet is killed off, you don't just move on and cut to credits.

It was obvious sequel bait. And I honestly think the guy coming out is Stahl. Those were Stahl's troops greeting the mystery man, and the shadow was obviously Stahl. That said, it could be Visari. His death would have enraged the Helghast, which could have been what he wanted, and so he got a body double in to do it. But I think it's unlikely.

Apart from the poor pacing of the whole game, if that irridated petrusite is so destructive and what happened to Helghan is what they were planning on doing to earth, how is it even possible that there's any Helghast left anyway? Heck, unless I'm mistaken, wouldn't that massive Helghan force seen earlier in the game have been on the ships in orbit at the end of the game and thus their armed forces are gone so what could they possibly do if there were surviving Helghast? Not only that, if that stuff so powerful to destroy things (especially things that start moving liked that panicking ISA guy that gets a bunch of people killed near the end of the game), how can there even be those Helghast walking around searching for that pod?

That's what's bothering me with the ending. This is a really heavy event and they just swept away like "eh so what? We'll just have to make up that they have an entire labarynth of underground cities for Killzone 4 and there's still another million soldiers down there waiting to pounce" or something like that.

Fot a shooter I thought it had way too few good shooting moments. The little actual FPS action was always interupted with "cinematic" bullshit that wasn't even telling a story, but more like: "Let's kill that next. Fuck that!"

Cutscenes are all good, but don't interupt the gameplay too often. (Uncharted 2 did the same thing early in the game and it was very annoying to me).

As for the environments, there were a lot looking like post nuclear scrap yards and those look like shit. Killzone 2 might not have had much colour, but the black architecture gave it a great atmosphere.

As for the ending, that was a complete outrage, fucking bullshit.

Guerrilla should have taken another full year to develop this. Overall their metacritic average of 85 is really justified.

There are only a couple FPS singleplayers that can impress me, but I thought Killzone 2's was great. I'm just dissappointed now.

I'm not entirely sure GG aren't just making it up as they go along...

Anyway, the ending is a bit muddled.  Finished too fast, glosses over the impact of the crashing ship and some elements indicate Stahl while others either Visari or another new character.

I hope we're not looking at a rinse-repeat of a sequence where you spend the game apparently winning, only to have the Helghast bounce back at the end - stronger than ever - only for you to apparently win again.

GG have created an interesting enough scenario as a backdrop - but their execution of the narrative in both KZ2 and KZ3 is a bit 'all over the place' IMHO and their pacing of events somewhat erratic.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
