Some people hand out hammers to fix things.  Some people hand out hammers to hurt others.  Some people mod consoles to do things they want at no expense to others.  Some people mod consoles to cheat and make the gaming experience worst for everyone else.  And it's about the intent, not the action.  So, no.  My analogy is NOT broken.  But when someone such as yourself cannot successfully argue the point at hand (geohot being in the wrong), a common tactic is to divert attention from the real point such as focusing on an analogy (which is what you are attempting to do.)  So focus on this:

"The truth that has been pointed out over and over again which has been denied by everyone unreasonable is that we all know that what geohot released WILL be abused.  AND he PROVED his malicious intent by the release and content of that rap video.  Keep lying to yourself.  You guys aren't gamers."

You sannot deny that Geohot released sensitive info.

You cannot deny that it will be abused.

You cannot deny that Geohot proved his malicious intent from the rapping video he released.

Geohot is in the wrong.  Stop lying to yourself, and start promoting gaming.

This, so much this.

If geohot has released a video stating that all he was trying to do was give tools to those who seek to enhance the PS3 and stressed that he believed that we do not need legislation to control behavior be giving everyone a chance to use these tools for good, I would have given him a $100 in support.  But he didn't.  After Sony was allowed to look into his hard drive, geohot was shoving this whole thing in their face.

You guys just need to stop making excuses and just see the truth of geohot being a malicious enabler.  Legality, common sense, and his personal actions point towards this.  It's just sad some of you would trade the love of gaming for a vendeta against Sony.  Your loss of character, not mine.

Just listen to the arguments.  It's about consumer rights to use their devices how they want.  Few if anyone are defending piracy, which is illegal.  The majority are defending their right to do what they want with what they bought.  I have no vendeta against Sony because I'm not retarded enough to pledge loyalty to any multi-national gaming company that could care less about me, only my money.  You're the one with loss of character for taking a stance for a corporation that wants to take away consumer rights.  Fight the pirates, not the modders.  It's a simple concept.

I want an online experience as flawless as possible for my gaming enjoyment.  That's how I want to use my device.  Why are you denying me that by allowing and promoting enablers to allow others to prevent that?  It's a simple concept.  Just listen to reason.  Fighting just the pirates and not the modders is just like saying arrest the drug users and not the pushers.

No....

it's more like saying... just punish the murderers... and not the people who produce the guns they use.

Wrong.  If you know someone will murder someone if you give him a hammer, you will not give him that hammer.  Otherwise, you are as responsible (an accomplice at the very least).  The truth that has been pointed out over and over again which has been denied by everyone unreasonable is that we all know that what geohot released WILL be abused.  AND he PROVED his malicious intent by the release and content of that rap video.  Keep lying to yourself.  You guys aren't gamers.

If you give someone a hammer and then they murder someone with it.  You aren't guilty of any crimes... even if you think someone will murder someone with it.

Afterall gun manufacturers KNOW people will be shot illegally with their guns.

Again:

"The truth that has been pointed out over and over again which has been denied by everyone unreasonable is that we all know that what geohot released WILL be abused.  AND he PROVED his malicious intent by the release and content of that rap video.  Keep lying to yourself.  You guys aren't gamers."

Again.

People who manufactuer guns KNOW that they will be abused and that people will be murdered.

Who's lieing to themselves here?  Your analogy is broken and disproven yet you keep pretending it works.

The only person lieing to themselves is you, because you think you are right with the point when it's eaisly disproven and you've got no leg to stand on by way of your own analogy.

Some people hand out hammers to fix things.  Some people hand out hammers to hurt others.  Some people mod console to thing they want at no expense to others.

Er, intent does not matter...

Keep dreaming.  Intent can matter in a court of law.  This is a fact.

Shoving something in someones face AFTER they sue you doesn't prove ill intent.

It shows being pissed that someone is sueing you... for something you don't think is a crime.

Would you be nice to someone who is sueing you for something that isn't a crime?  Or would you be hostile towards them?

Not in the way your thinking.

Outside that... there was nothing in that rap that proved "Ill Intent".    I went to the trouble of finding a transcript because I'm past my quota of "Probably horrible rap videos created by nerds" for the week..

Unless there as something more then this... your wrong.  There isn't the least bit of mention of piracy or cheating.

Yo it’s geohot
And for those that don’t know
I’m getting sued by Sony

Let’s take this out of the courtroom and into the streets
I’m a beast, at the least, you’ll face me in the northeast
Get my ire up, light my fire
I’ll go harder than Eminem went at Mariah
Call me a liar
Pound me in the ass with no lube, chafing
You’re fucking with the dude who got the keys to your safe and
Those that can’t do bring suits
Cry to your Uncle Sam to settle disputes
Thought you’d tackle this with a little more tact
But then again fudgepackers, I don’t know Jack

I shed a tear everytime I think of Lik Sang
But shit man, they’re a corporation
And I’m a personification of freedom for all
You fill dockets, like thats a concept foreign to y’all
While lawyers muddy water and TROs stall
Out of business is jail for me
And you’re suing me civilly

Exhibit this in the courtroom
Go on, do it, I dare you

Yet you're supporting Sony wasting their money on a case just to prove a point, when that money could be going towards PROPER protection devices for the online community?

It's blatantly ignorant to think that the one-trick pony of a protection system that was flawed to begin with would meet the needs of PS3 security this entire time. They need to cut their losses and work to prevent even more damage being done.

I'm not supporting Sony.  I'm supporting the enjoyment of gaming.

Er... then why are you argueing for Sony...

I just said I wasn't specifically supporting Sony in this situation.  So I'm not arguing for Sony.  I'm supporting the enjoyment of gaming.  Do I need to repeat myself, or are you just trying to discredit me because I made a valid point you could not successfully argue?

You are argueing against the side supporting the enjoyment of gaming.  You are argueing for the side that allows restrictions on your gaming console preventing you from fully enjoying said gaming.

You know what will happen to hackers in COD?   IP bans.  Or it would if Activision cared.   I mean, hacking exists on the 360 and PC, and yet it's pretty much NEVER a problem.

You're acting like every game there is 5 people hacking.

So are you saying that there was no merit in choosing a degree of murder when I was serving jury duty for a murder case based on whether the murder was an accident, coerced, or intentional?  Intention, baby.  Intention.  Keep making excuses, bub.  Geohot intended the keys to be used by anyone however they want.  bad.
