I knew someone from China and when she came to Canada she thought Tianemen Square was actually a pro-government rally praising the Chinese leadership. The news and everything was so distorted she had no idea about Tibet or anything else. I wonder if Nato took out the Great Firewall for a few weeks and allowed Chinese unsensored access to the internet what would happen? |
Or she just knew nothing about politics and news. If NATO for whatever reason managed to take down the Chinese firewall I guess things wouldn't change much in China at least not immediately. I think the average Chinese realise the news is censored and all they will see is what we see and read. Nothing really that will want them to topple their Governemnt like say in Egypt. If anything the worlds media is doing the Chinese leadership a favour by continously praising the economy. Eventually though as the Chinese educated class grows and grows, they will naturally want more freedoms and they will be more represented in the political sphere as the years go by.
