Forums - Gaming - One PS3 feature I REALLY wish was on the 360

360 owners are already well aware that they can make custom soundtracks for every game on the market.  Just rip a CD to the HDD and you're set.  I have the Silent Hill 3 soundtrack for games like Limbo, and some awesome collections of music for Burnout and such, as a result.  Thing is, I rarely ever buy CD's anymore.

On the PS3, you can copy MP3's and such directly from your portable music player, HDD, and even download music from sites like airmp3.com directly to your PS3!  So, while I have an HDD loaded with music and I can even play music from the PSP (yes, the PSP), Droid, HDD and such on my 360......I can't use any of them when it comes to making custom soundtracks.

I want to use the original music from Crazy Taxi (The Offspring, Bad Religion) when I play Crazy Taxi.  WWE Smackdown lets you create custom entrance music for your created characters.  I want guys like Kurt Angel and Booker T too enter the ring with authentic music instead of whichever music I own that sounds closest to the original (which is usually nothing).  On the 360, I just don't have that option.  So, as it stands, there's no way to save digital music to a 360 console.

--On an unrelated note, did you guys know that:

  • you can connect a PSP to a 360 and view content on the 360 console?
  • You can download normal themes and videos from a PS3 and watch them or post them on a 360 console?  I watched the Uncharted 2 trailer from the PSN on my 360 and I have a Heavenly Sword theme on my 360--both from the PSN thanks to a portable HDD!
  • You can use any third party HDD's to share content with your PS3's and 360's?
  • That you can use any external HDD (I use a Seagate Free Agent) to expand your console's memory--Every XBLA game I own i(almost 50 of them) is stored on the HDD so I can take them anywhere.
  • That if you buy a movie from the PSN, it's gone forever if you ever delete it--if you delete a movie from Xbox Live, you can download it again for free?
  • Ass > Boobs?
  • That the PS3 versions of many games come with videos and featurettes that the 360 versions don't (Like Batman AA).  Just toss the disc in and look at the video section.

I knew many of these stuff, and agree with all of them...

I don't think you could extend the 360's memory by more than 16 Gb though...can you?

One feature you left out that I want for the 360 to have :

  • Custom themes, which I am currently using. I have made my own theme, and I can update my own theme. I can have any wallpaper, icon I want to use. I can have more than 1 wallpaper, Different icons, and a different notification box, along with a different browser mouse icon. Its easy to use too, and easy to make as well.

im not quite sure what the 360 can or cant read but there is a simple program that lets you save u tubes audio from any vid, would you then be able to put the audio file on a cd-r then put the cd-r in the 360

the program is keep vid you also need FLV extract to take the audio portion out of the u tube vid both are free to DL on the net

i didnt not know that the vid is gone forever on the ps3 cant you just re download it from the recent transactions list like you would do to psn games after you delete them?

idn know pionts1-4 either you can copy your XBL titles and take em to another 360 and play em? isnt that banable i know MS and Sony ban when you account share b/c of this

also you say that you pirate music from the ps3 browser you can also do movies from a few sites but i dont know if thats safe to do know since sony is getting serious with the ban hammer im sure they can know what your download from its browser or even while playing pirated music or movies through its XMB

one feature that i envy from the 360 is the ability to DL the entire  game on the HDD i want the PS3 to do this for all its games

                                                                      Play Me

Thats really cool actually, got to give it a shot for some games.

But shouldn't you be practising things like... jump in, down medium kick, half circle, half circle, fierce punch... instead of fiddling around with soundtracks? :P

Your time will come soon enough, disolitude.....soon enough..........

And in response to an earlier post--yeah, only 16gb's.  Still more than enough to store my entire XBLA game library.

@BHR-3, I learned that lesson the hard way.  I had over $100 worth of TV shows and movies I downloaded from the PSN to watch on our PSP's (me and my daughter's).  I deleted them from my PS3 HDD when it started getting too full.  I went back to download them and I realized that they wanted me to pay full price for them, again.  This blew my mind.  I called Sony customer service, showed him where the purchases were in my history, and everything.  I eventually found out that if you buy them, they don't expire but if you delete them, they're gone.  I tested this by tossing another $10 down the drain on Jackass 2 and got charged the full $10 even though I already bought this movie.  So, yeah.  Buyer beware.

So basically, I have to burn CD's and then rip them to the 360?  Seems like a lot of work.........

As for the copy games deal--I have my Xbox Live info on the HDD, too.  As long as it's me, it's all good.  Without the ID, I'm just carrying around a bunch of demos.  I also downloaded games to three of my friend's PSP's.  Basically, any game you download once can be downloaded five times.  It's like buying five games for the price of one.  It kills Sony's game sales, I guess but it's totally legal under their guidlines.

I've seen that in GoW 3 and Gran Turismo and I think is a cool feature.

I saw that earlier ingame in House of the Dead: Overkill (you could unlock trailers for Madworld and something else).

^^^I may give that thing a shot.  I still have the cable that Microsoft sent me that allowed me to transfer data from my old 20GB HDD to my current 60GB HDD.  I'm tempted to connect my 360 to my PC and see what happens.  I'll probably end up corrupting all of my data, though.

I think this basically shows alot of pros and cons for both consoles and basically says that there are reasons to own both. Now  if only I had a psp I could pretend I was playing my PS3 every time I get on the 360!
