Everyone is probably too busy torrenting it LOL

And I haven't been around to voice rampant pesimissm after the first game >_>
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
because the games not out yet.
the next time there will be this much hype, it will be for a next gen shooter. reminds me of the e3 2005 killzone 2 trailer =)

Along with much of what has been said earlier in this thread, for what was left of K2's audience, the K3 beta has them split down the middle in terms of whether or not they enjoy the changes from the previous game. |
OK, again it depends on what you call a HUGE MARGIN (as I clearly stated).
IMO a huge margin where PS3 games are concerned is 2m plus, yours seem to be 1m plus.
Just a matter of opinion.
Giving it some thought this whole anti-hype thing could be a blessing in disguise.
If it was massively hype and has terrible sales it could pretty much finish the franchise.
If it goes under the radar and has crap sales at least no one expected a blockbuster.

for SONY, Killzone 3 was always seen as the Halo Killer.
And really 1 more halo game, release it at the end of the PS3 era in around 3-4 years time when ps3 sales are at its peak and make its jammed packed and have the most epic story and robust game and it would sell like crazy. Then finish the franchise and gurellia take there new game , and if that fails then focus on the final kz and join naughty dog, insomanic, sucker punch that all create new ip's every new generation.
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
If I had to guess...
I'd say it's because the PS3 isn't in such desperate straights as it was when Killzone 2 came out.
I mean, maybe i haven't been paying as much attention, but lately it seems pretty much NO PS3 games have been getting the same hype treatmet that games got around Killzone 2's time.
Where individual users made it their goal through hell or highwater to somehow singlehandedly make the game a success as if they were the marketing director or something.

The answer is simple - it doesn't need the same push that KZ2 did and the world is a slightly different place now. Considering how much complaining there was about the forums being flooded with KZ2 "stuff", I'm happy the hype has been moderate, so we don't have to hear said complaining. Also, exclusives are hyped as important regardless of the platform. This doesn't just happen with PS3-only titles. |
No, but it happened more frequently with PS3 only titles.
PS3 only titles and Wii "Hardcore" titles mostly.

We're speaking currently. It happens all over. If anything, recently, I've seen it coming more from the Nintendo side. Not that I'm complaining - I see little wrong with hyping up exclusive titles. |
Oh, I agree currently it happens most from the Nintendo side... and it's fairly obvious why. While still strong, the Wii's position isn't as strong as it was... and still has some third party issues.
PS3 hyping is down because the PS3 is actualy competing pretty well vs the 360 now and has some exclusives that set it apart.
360 hyping isn't up because we have almost no 360 fans on the site.
Hyping often is going to be releated to outside factors beyond just the game itself.

Also, it's always weird when something is called a "Halo Killer" and it isn't even on the 360. As if a game was going to make 5-6 million people sell their systems and buy the rival system to play a game they probably haven't had a achance to play anyway.
It could happen with a "Franchise" causing that, but likely not till the next generation.

not groundbreaking to people looking for a completly empty meanless effortless experience (which is what killzone 3 is trying ever so hard to accomplish)
