Forums - PC - Duke Nukem Forever to use Steamworks

Love Duke, hate steam, dont know what to do. I feel like an ass paying full price for "content liscensing" and not to actually own a copy of the game.

your using Windows or Mac aren't you? Welcome to content licensing at its worst. At least Valve states that if Steam for  some reason ever fails they will do everything in their power to transfer all licensing and rights to your game copies to the individual user. Microsoft and Apple will both just rip the OS right from under you if they just feel like it and could deny access to all your files that you own on the PC, other than Steam files and anything cloud based like Google Docs thanks to the fact all titles are linked externally =DD.

good! enjoy your inferior console port!

on a serious note, why? Steam is amazing! And Steamworks allows for push-updates, free content additions, achievement tracking, and cloud support. Even Sony is adding Steamworks to the PS3 SDK for this reason. Are you not going to buy Valve titles on the PS3 too because they will have Steamworks on them?

For a variety of reasons!

One reason actually

1. My ISP sucks: A couple of weeks ago I was averaging 800bitsp/s and I couldn't log in to Steam to play my games... I don't like not being able to play my games! D:<

I haven't boughten any new games for PS3 since they took away Linux.(released after RDR) ;_;

*looks at profile for location information*

Ok, So in the part of the USA that your in doesn't offer better internet? Or is it to expensive?

One option might be getting a verizon cell phone with unlimited data and use Android's tethering function to give your PC some awesome 3G internets which should average out to be 3mbps mattering area. I'm like 4mbps here, some towns average like 2mbps so its a matter of where you live and where Verizon's towers are.

Rains a lot and parents don't care enough to get Sattelitte, cable is nonexistant out here too...

We are out of 3 and 4g areas. I think someone measured it for me and it cut off 1.372miles away or a number like that xD :(

mostly just to download, past that, not for off-line games.

Then what's the point of a steam enabled game if you don't even need to log on to play? >_____>

most (almost all) steam games will allow you to play offline as long as you have launched the game once while connected. It's not like Ubisoft's DRM where you need to have a constant connection.
