Mario is barely a character. His basically an avatar for the gameplay, just like Pacman.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Yeah, well I actively avoid anything with Mario in it. Probably missed out on some great games because of it. But there's something about that moustache I just don't trust.

the opinion of a core gaming magazine is much better than on the street where moms have only herd of mario for the past 3 decades.

Debate about whether or not this is deserved aside, God of War has such a tiny userbase in Japan compared to some of those other games and their characters in the list that I can only assume we're dealing with a microscopic amount of votes.
