Forums - Sony - Xperia: Play launching in March, Verizon "Early Spring"

"The phone itself was hardly a surprise, but one of the details we didn't know about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was release date. We still don't have a specific day, but we do at least have a month: March. The phone is said to be coming to the US first, and Verizon will be the exclusive carrier domestically. Things are even more vague about when it'll be coming to VZW, nothing beyond "early spring," but March certainly falls in that window. Lots more details in our Sony Ericsson MWC liveblog."

Update:

When Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play "PlayStation Phone" becomes available in March ("early spring" for Verizon) it will debut alongside 50 launch titles and come preloaded with what execs said was a "legendary" PlayStation One title.

Other confirmed features include local multiplayer and a wifi hostspot hosting feature for connected head to head gaming.

Really, though, no surprises here. It's a Sony Ericsson Xperia phone that will play PlayStation games (and others). Some of the games will be older titles with exclusive Xperia Play-only levels and upgrades.

Is this enough to deter gamers from purchasing the meaty PSP2 or the glasses-free 3DS? Definitely not, but the line between dedicated mobile gaming devices and smartphones

PS1 title will probably be Final Fantasy VII. That's my asumption.

IMO it's not legendary but in the overall public eye it is.

Definately FFVII. Nothing come close to FFVII in popularity for PS1 games although there are other better games.

As I thought!

Crash is the best legendary PS1 game to play on the go.

it would be awesome having crash banicoot because it will save paying 10 dollars for it (for me it is)
