Downpour Details: Multiple Endings, Element Of Fear Although it's being developed by a new studio, it seems Silent Hill: Downpour will have everything franchise fans desire. You can check the digital version of the recent EGM; there's a feature interview with Downpourproducer Devin Shatsky, and he provides us with a few new pieces of information. First and foremost - and we loved this about Silent Hill 2, in particular - we will once again get multiple endings, thereby giving us more reason to replay the game. Another reason would be the fact that not all side-quests are available during our first play-through. In terms of atmosphere and gameplay, Vatra really seems to be focusing on the "creepy" factor; for instance, the main character, Murphy Pendleton, will walk differently depending on how much damage he has suffered and - get this - his fear level. Very cool. Furthermore, we see something about "infinite hallways" and "disintegrating rooms" that will continually keep players on their freaked-out toes. And although many of us define Silent Hill as Survival/Horror - a sub-genre that has either disappeared or been absorbed into the action/adventure category, depending on your views - Shatsky would rather call Downpour a "psychological thriller." Yeah, we'll go with that. This game sounds sweetand it's nice to see Vatra sticking to the concepts and ideas that first made the franchise great. 2/10/2011 10:15:47 AM Ben Dutka
