New features for Namco Bandai's long awaited arcade sequel.

Famitsu delivered its second major report on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 this week. In case you missed the first one, read this story.

This week, the magazine reveals the game's new "Stage Gimmick" system. The example of this system that's shown in Famitsu has the player slamming his opponent into wall. The wall breaks, and the opponent goes flying, landing in a new area of the battle field where the fight continues. In Famitsu's example, it just so happens that the player's partner character is waiting where the opponent lands, allowing the player to continue the attack for major damage.

Also introduced this week is the game's item system. Similar to past Tekken games, you'll be able to customize your TTT2 characters with items. These aren't just for show, as some items can be used for attacks. Examples include a bat and the "hammer head." The bat doesn't really need any explanation. The "hammer head" is like a hat with a hammer head sticking out from its top.

In addition to the gameplay details, the magazine shows the following characters: Kazuya Mishima, Bob, Ling Xiaoyu, Zafina. It's not too surprising to see these characters in the game, of course, as producer Katsuhiro Harada has said that every playable Tekken 6 character will be returning.

awesome waiting for the sequel since the first came out on PS2.

I don't care about that, I'm waiting to see if they include Kunimitus.  If they do that, I'll gladly preorder the game the day they announce her.

I use to tear. people. up in Tekken Tag with her, I generally would barely even need the other character.

This is my favourite fighter. I hope they make a 3DS version!

Oh boy, you need to see what can I do with Eddy Gordo, the capoeira guy...

Which platform do you have???

PS2, me and about 6 or so friends use to play it constantly in college and would have some pretty heated tournaments.

I was insane with Kuni and another guy was insane with Eddie and most of the time they wouldn't let us play those characters.  When me and that guy did decide to throw down though, I could generally beat him with Eddie but not with Kuni.  I usually had to resort to using the school girl chick (can't remember how to spell her name) because Eddie just does really well against Kunimitsu.

The bad thing about Eddie though is simple quick punches destroy, which the school girl is good at.  Those simple punches just completely disrupt all his flow and mixed how quick she was, I generally did well against him.

It was fun when we'd do little dances of I'd switch in Kuni, he's switch in Eddie, I'd switch in school girl, and he'd switch out Eddie.  :-p

i hope they dont disappoint with this one like Tekken 6...Tekken 6 was the first Tekken i sold after  i played it through...i got high expectations because i loved the first and played it always with 3 friends...and that Tekken Bowl mini game...OMG i was addicted to it...

Thing is, I use a lot of grabs... my friends didn't want to play with me anymore because they say I'm annoying. If a combo fails right in your face I'll grab you next. ANd I do it in a way were you need to react in like 0.22 seconds to not be grabbed. Once you're in the ground I have more combos to hit you even before you get up :p

Of course sometimes I got my ass beaten, but I think I'm a hell of a player, I rarelly lose playing online on my friends 360...

In a grab fight, the school girl character always wins, that's pretty much all she is.

So PSYCHED for this one :D my most fave fighter of all time! I think a NGP version is a given too...the game works great on PSP controls and new analog stick will make it even better on the go

I'm glad they are brining back everyone from Tekken 6 into this....Lars/Raven/Leo/Feng/Lee = FTW! Asuka and Jin aren't too bad either
