Forums - General - After experiencing Blu Ray do you think you can ever go back to DVD?

I get the Blu-ray if it's available.  However, if DVD is the only thing available, I'll settle for it.  It's true with alot of anime, although that's now starting to come on Blu-ray more.

I never liked digital streaming, but that's a different story.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Just to add that I will be buying Planet Earth and Blue Planet when they hit £10 each on blu-ray.

I've had my PS3 since 2008 (my only BR player) and I only have about 15-20 blu ray DVDs, which is about the same number of DVDs I've bought in the time.

Documentaries are simply the best on BR, Planet Earth is simply breathtaking, even more in HD.  Watching it in HD just takes it to a whole new level.

Generally for your standard film, not as much

I'll pretty much only get Blu-ray if it's being sent to me from Netflix and I can't stream it.

Even if I'm buying a movie in a store... I'd get DVD... same price.

Why?  None of my friends have blu-ray players except a couple PS3 owners.  So I couldn't even lend them the movies.

The only time you should really notice the difference between Blu-ray and DVD is if the movie sucks, because then you aren't properly sucked into it.

I do prefer hd movies (dont own a bluray player) but dvd quality is fine with me also

It really depends on the movie for me. If it's a Sci-fi, big time action, or animated movie, you gotta go Blu-Ray. But for most of what I watch, comedies and documentries, there is really no reason to waste the money going for the HD version. The Hangover is the same level of awesome in HD or SD, but Dark Knight is way more enjoyable in HD. Just depends.

Well I don't really care all that much. I care much more about accessibility. In other words, digital copy.

I have yet to actually watch the first Iron Man on Blu-Ray, that I own, because I just watched the digital copy and never bothered to use the actual disc.

I don't care so much, but with a big tv I obviously prefer BluRay.
