Forums - General - After experiencing Blu Ray do you think you can ever go back to DVD?

I own a 50 inch panasonic and my fist blu ray movie was the dark knight. At first I didnt really see a difference and didnt think it was all that great. But i continued to buy blu ray just because of all the combo packs. I didnt exactly compare dvd to blu ray until a until a couple of weeks ago (mostly because i always used the blu ray disk). Inception blu ray and dvd was the ones i compared. And wow the differece is huge. Just by looking at the smudged faces in title screen of the dvd I knew for a fact that i could probably never go back to dvd for movies. Anime dvds are an exception for me due to the fact that many i like are not released on blu ray. So anyways do you guys think you can ever go back to dvd after experiencing blu ray?

Bluray is better for sure but the bottom line is I really don't care if its bluray or DVD for most movies...the good ones at least. You won't see me pass on watching something like Pulp Fiction cause the DVD copy is only one available.

If its something loud and in your face like transformers or 2012...sure bluray is the only wya to go.

Only for things like you said, cartoons and the like it doesn't matter much. For action/thrillers, HD is a must!

I always prefer HD, but I don't care much either way. I've been going through my DVD collection recently and watching stuff and it's not like I was ever thinking "Oh man, this isn't HD, it sucks". It is a big difference between the formats, but HD isn't really a must to me. Now, I haven't bought a DVD since I got my PS3, so it's not like I plan to 'go back', but I don't mind watching most stuff in SD.

I don't watch tv because the TV that has cable in my house is standard. Once you go black , you never go....

wait wha?...

No only because I dont watch enough content anyways. But I do admit when I see a Blue Ray I know there is nothing better.

I respect the Blu ray as a tool to curb piracy...but I hope dvd's have a long life ahead.  I don't care about extra gimmicky content blu ray offers.

I'm cheap... so DVD for life! :D

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I always go for HD version when it's available.

Live action movies I can watch in either format, but Blu-ray has ruined animation for me. One you see the vivid colors of Ponyo or the Princess and the Frog in HD, you just can't go back.
