Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft has "mind-blowing" plans for TV on Xbox Live

Why not just improve the features of xbox live?

They haven't done that much recently IIRC

why would they need to, they are still fairly ahead. Though in aus and uk it seems paytv is being integrated with the 360.

I thought HULU was coming to xbox anyway.... if it's true... that makes XB one of the best entertainment platform for the cheapest.... with XBL, an internet connection, netflix subscription and  hulu subscription  for less than 50 bucks a month I have access to every movie I want and any TV show I want which makes it way cheaper than having full cable or dish....

Why the UK only?

ive tried using espn on xbox live and it just seems it is not up to par with cable. I dont even know if espn on xbox live is hd. i really wish microsoft would focus on the gaming side of xbox live and not these fb, twit, espn apps that are not as great as the original.

Poor Conan, going from The Tonight show to xbox tv.

How does this work with a bandwidth cap? I guess it would be useless for me since I can download max 4 movies a month. Friends of mine can't even do that, they already go over with skype and online gaming.

I can only see isp's crack down further on bandwidth usage if it catches on :( I didn't have a bandwidth cap until too many people started (illegaly) downloading movies.

I think the bandwidth caps have more to do with isps also being content providers. With services like netflicks and hulu people are starting to cancel thier cable tv or/and not buying dvds. When they put the cap in place it keeps people relying on the monopolistic technologies that they control.

you do know that netflicks costs on top of your xbl subscription and so probably would any of these tv deals, so yeah... not so cheap and no real reason to use 360

looks like lives price might be raised again pretty soon

Not really. I am sure this was in the works when they upped the price last time. Microsoft plans for the future... don't know why the live prices upping was a surprise, they have enough deals on xbl for it not to matter anyway.

Yep now I think of it the cap came when my cable tv/internet provider started offering play on demand on cable. Not sure why they have to go that far, apart from the horrible slow menu system their play on demand is competitively priced, stable quality, and has a bigger selection with lots of free stuff.

It is effective in stopping netflix's fixed price for unlimited tv/movies deal though :(
