Just wish everyone could just buy what they wanted instead of having to pirate. Its ridiculous to steal and think its ok.

It's not steal, you are not taking it from someone. You are just copying.

In capitalism, not everyone can be rich.

If it wasn't for piracy, I would never play Videogames in my life. Not being a gamer, I would never buy original games today that I have the minimum conditions to afford it.

But I don't like people that bought PS3 games and now converted back to CFW. It's a very bad habit of my country.

Do you remember this post?

True story: i made a copy of your house key. it's only a copy so it's not stealing and thus completely legal. being the the freedom fighter i am i distributed that key to everyone in your neighboorhood. how was i suppose to know that the guy who has been sent to jail 3 times already would use that key to break into your house, steal your shit, and rape your wife. i mean, as i handed out the keys i told him not do that so i am of course completely blameless.

really, when you think about it this whole thing is your fault. you should have known i was going to try and make copies of your household protection mechanisms. you really should have had a more secure house. i hope you learned your lesson.

Off topic and I'm not gonna go into this piracy debate but that example you gave is terribad and shows how people wash away responsibility. Sounds like your turning a complete blind eye on what you've brought upon.

If the owner gave you a duplicate or allowed you to duplicate YOUR OWN copy no matter how many copies you want, isn't it that he entrusted it to you, AND YOU ALONE. Now why distribute the key without his consent? Now if shit happens you may not be pinned down LEGALLY but you cannot wash away that your actions lead to some undersireable circumstance or outcome for the original owner.

Now I'm not good with words but just saying my thoughts. :S

I don't get how the example is terribad when that is the exact logic "copying" goes for many times.

Yea, but it is still stealing.  We know not everybody can be rich in capitalism, but in life, people aren't entitled to stuff, especially video games.  If you can't afford it, then you shouldn't be playing it.  As sad as it is, that's just how it works.  I also really don't understand why you purchased a PS3 for hundreds of dollars if you "can't" afford the games, clearly you should be spending that money on other parts of your life.

I AM buying original games. And I AM against people that bought a expensive console to play pirate games. This topic is not that easy to solve...You can buy a unblocked PS2 for less than $150 and play all the games you want, a lot of people can afford this, but not a $600 PS3 with $100 games.

But the fact is that piracy helped the market in the past.

Actually, Microsoft even made incentives to allow Windows pirate copies everywhere. They killed Macintosh and Linux doing this, and nowadays they are selling a lot of original copies, because of the improved economy.

If piracy is stealing or not, depends of point of view. I think sometimes that discussing it is almost like discussing religion.

If pirates are wrong or right, we don't know. But i'm sure that who buys original copies is not wrong. I think that is the "consensus" of both sides.

There's more to this story too. As of now, "the latest PS3 firmware has quite a glitch: it makes hard drive upgrades impossible on many PS3 models."

OP: According to Ars, there isn't enough evidence to support the claim of rootkits on the PS3, but well, it's not like this would be the first time this kind of thing has happened.
