Forums - Gaming - My PS3 died :(

Yup. It got the infamous yellow light. I was playing Fallout 3 GOTY. The game suffered poor framerate when within a minute it shut offf and the red light started blinking. Turned it on and BOOM yellow light. :(

The good news is i have a 40gb PS3 in the house but my little bro games on it, so we will have to share. However, I am not buying another system or sending it in. Don't want to risk a refurb model, and eventually paying 150 again for same problem. I am so disappointed with Sony!!! I paid more than $600 so it can die 3yrs and a month :(

I know im mad and over reacting. Maybe ill wait till E3 for pricecut/new model.

Ah so sad.

happened to me last yr around march i had 60gb with B/C alot of the early ps3s like the 60gb 80gb and 40gb have been gettin the ylod as of late i even warned others on here that they may soon experience it

dont send it in to sony if yo send it send to a 3rd party repair that does reball i sent my in to capital ciruts and got a complete reball on both gpu and cpu, they where also able to recover all my game saves most 3rd partys can do that i paid under $200 including shipping ect.

but once i got it back i decided to just retire the system i have the original 60gb box and manuals so i just stored it in there maybe one day it'll be worth something and i now do all my gaming on a CECH 2100 PS3 Slim they have made numerous design changes to it to reduce the chances of the ylod theres just to much heat in those early ps3 phats

                                                                      Play Me

cant you use that heatgun method?

I would be too afraid to do surgery on mine if it broke.

I wonder how long it will take before someone comes into this thread, doesn't read anything but the title, and accuses you for modding your PS3 and telling you that you deserve it for stealing games.

But back on topic, man that really sucks. I have an original 60 GB fat PS3 with the extra usb ports, all the card readers, and the full ps2/ps1 BC built in.  If it ever broke I'd be more disappointed than if my Wii or 360 broke (I actually hope my 360 breaks so I have a reason to upgrade to the shiny new slim ).

Haha i should have been more specific.

Yeah i can't get over it. I maintained it well. I wanted it to last forever :P

Did it ever overheat?
