I think we've come past the 'hurr durr shooterbox' phase... the 360 has a whole bunch of multiplats and exclusives besides those 2 franchises.

on topic - seems Sony is going for the option of bringing home gaming to handhelds...

Gears is in 9th and 10th, behind CoD, Halo, GTA and Kinect Adventures, and not significantly higher than Assasin's Creed or Forza.

I'm not saying that Gears isn't important to MS, but it is not as big as you suggest, it going multiplat (particularly with a handheld) would hardly ruin the company.
