WOOOOOTT!!!!!! Valve is the best dev team around... why is bungie on that list.. they are a garbage dev team.. and why isnt Epic on there. =/

If you guys think I agree with the decision to leave Nintendo out, you're wrong. I was simply explaining what Gamasutra was doing here. Let me repeat a portion of what they said here, as it's the key:

"But we're picking top developers for.... their grit and willingness to push the envelope, not necessarily simply on the finished product's overall quality."

When I read that, I knew that sentence was precisely constructed to explain why they weren't putting Nintendo on the list.

So. Nintendo isn't on the list? That's because they don't have "grit." Their games aren't pushing the tech envelope, since their systems are based on old tech. You can complain about it, but that's clearly what Gamasutra has done here, and it's their list, so they can do whatever they want.

 honestly I believe EA deserves to be on the list more then Nintendo (or bungie) does. Crysis is amazing.

I don't think that's a bad choice either, SSJ. They also published Rock Band and Skate, which also got very strong reviews.

You're absolutely right, which is why Rock Band isn't from EA either. I changed my mind then, EA doesn't belong on there :p

wait, you slap a couple of old games onto one disc to resell them and you become developer of the year for that? why not "compiler of the year"?

Sure, they pushed the tech envelope, but Crytek clearly isn't gritty enough. Until they're grinding bullets into dust with their teeth to help them wake up in the morning, they don't deserve this award.

They need more grit; more gravitas, if you will, good sir. A man isn't worth his salt until he wears a heavy coat of it.
