Unless something goes wrong for Nintendo, the PS3 won't be equal to the wii next year.

and unless something goes wrong for MS the PS3 won't be equal to the x360 next year...there's still a gap of 7.3M console.

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

I think nintendo will start to lose some of its momentum come next year. As some I mean they wont sell out anymore. It should manage to sell half of what its selling this year next year.

At least you're consistent (-ly wrong).

You have no idea what the demand for the Wii is dude. As a reseller, I can tell you it's gonna be at the VERY MINIMUM, at least 4 more months until it stops selling out.

I think the Wii will go very strong throughout 2008. But I think the Wii will see a noticeable fade in 2009 though. I don't mean the Wii will just fade away in 2009, but I just see the other two (Sony especially) getting stronger as the years go on.

the ps3 is gaining ground percentage-wise but that means nothing for the actual gap that exists between them. the ps3 will probably beat the 360 this week because it actually had ridiculously good sales in europe this week but lets say it beats 360 worldwide by 100,000 this week (which would be HUGE for sony). well thats 1/73rd of what it needs to do to catch up. 360 will easily keep the lead over sony till at least right before the next gen of systems comes out in like 4 years or so. beating 360 doesn't really mean anything unless they do it by a lot and do it every week for months and years without fail. thats what it'll take for the ps3 to catch up and take 2nd from microsoft.

end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million,  360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million

Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus

While far more blunt (& rude) than I would be, absolutely true.

@Leo,

Do you have anything you can point to that would support your theory that it will slow down?

You're right. Very blunt and a little rude, but you can't say you're not fed up with the statements he consistently makes like this one.

PS3 and 360 will be neck and neck next year in North America(within 15% of each other in weekly sales).

Yet, PS3 already OUTSOLD x360 in Japan.

Will OUTSELL x360 in Europe, after release of GT5, MGS4, GTA4. That`s by the end of 1st part of 2008.

It will take time, a LOT of time, Before PS3 will OUTSELL x360 in USA. Positively thinking, by the end of 2008. The USA will be last region, where total number of x360 will be more then ps3 in 2008. =) But and USA will give up against GT5, GTA4, MGS4, LBP, KZ2, R2, M2 and maybe FFXIII.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

PS3 won't be #1 next year. It'll struggle against the X360 for #2 next year.

The big question is where do PS3 sales go post-holiday. Despite great sales worldwide this Nov- till now, the PS3 is still expensive. And unfortunately for Sony, another price drop is out of the question for atleast another year.

What matters is if/when Microsoft drops the X360's price, to how much, and what the PS3's sales reaction is to the drop. A X360 pricedrop around GTAIV-time, followed by very little change in the PS3 could signal a strong decrease in Playstation brand appeal, and cause poor sales next year.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
