Unless you're absolutely sure, and they actually try to attack you, you shouldn't shoot them. They could be lost, searching for directions, hurt etc. Plus, as I said, what if they're some sort of friends/acquaintences wanting to surprise you?

I'm sorry but it's like you're intentionally being obtuse about this. Unless the person misses the target with their first round (unlikely), the "trespasser" (I can't believe I'm really arguing this) will probably have time to announce the fact that they are, for some unknown hypothetical reason, crawling around in the underbrush outside someone's house.

I feel like a moron for having typed that paragraph.
