Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's Halo hiring spree continues

I can almost guarantee you that people are NOT going to like the next Halo from these guys.

Point and case number 1: Great software titles are produced by great software makers.

And they're making the next Halo iteration which is BUNGIE's child. I don't think I need to explain how well of a developer Bungie truly is, all but making their jobs that much harder. If they borrowed the engine, hired former Bungie employees, and got a lot of dough from Microsoft. It, more than likely, won't please the Halo fanbase. Example, lets say that Ubisoft took Assassin's Creed and gave it to another developer to create the next sequel. The new developer won't have the know-how, talent, programming skill, and direction as some of the people over at Ubisoft Montreal do. Thus resulting in a game that will have multiple issues and or may have alienated some of the fan base. Not good.

I hate to say this to you, but your observations and comment are completely wrong. Here I will accurately put your example into the context of what 343 Industries actually is for Microsoft. For one Ubisoft(Microsoft) would pour millions upon millions of dollars into forming this new studio. Hiring people not only from Ubisoft Montreal(Bungie), but the best of the best including people from Kojima Productions, Capcom, and their absolute best internal tech professionals, including the likes of Corrinne Yu! Go look up a video of her, she'll blow your mind.

The entire company of 343 Industries was created to helm every creative aspect of the Halo Brand. From games, to servers, to websites, to books, to merchandise, etc. They are led by Frank O' Connor, which is considered by most as the father of Halo, whom quit Bungie years ago to actually start this company at Microsoft. Seriously the kind of studio doesn't really exist anywhere else. Think about it, and entire company filled the brightest and most passionate fans/professionals of Halo, whose only goal is to continue the Halo legacy. Obviously Microsoft cares more so about the Halo franchise than any other property that they have ever had, there is no reason to doubt.

343 Industries already controls and produces Halo Waypoint on the Xbox 360. They run the servers and produce the title updates for Halo Wars. Not to mention they will eventually have control over Halo: Reach when Bungie passes it down to them. I have the utmost faith in 343, and know that when they do finally show their game, gamers everywhere will shout "holy shit!" :)

An excellent post, and you raise good points, but I just wanted to say, it's not only about from where or who the talent we're talking about is.

What matters at the end is how they're used. Many great devs have messed up when they tried to pursue newer careers. That, and even if a person comes from, let's say KojiPro, it's not like he's Kojima himself. You know what I mean?

It's why I said it's better to wait 'til the game is actually announced, though I am pretty optimistic for it.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

"Great software titles are produced by great software makers"

So I'm guessing they got the great software makers part down don't they?
