Forums - Sony - Jack Trentton comments on Activisions PS360 pricing comments.

"We’ve never been first to market. We’ve preceded competitors, we’ve followed competitors, but I think the long-term success in my mind that we’ve enjoyed has very little to do with when we shipped."

Are you sure , Jack ?

Of course there isn't. I cant see Activision making any currently planned multiplatform game exclusive to the 360 or removing any from the PS3. That said, comments like these make it easy to say yes to future exclusive games when Microsoft comes knocking.

No it won't. Activision want to be the biggest 3rd party publisher and they cannot maintain that by making exclusive games. It would cost an insane amount of money for Microsoft to buy a Activision exclusive now and it won't change in the future based on these comments. Activision want to be the top dog, they won't achieve that by making exclusives. That's why you don't see EA/Activision exclusives and why they are the biggest 3rd party publishers.

Nothing will come of this. At worst it may cause a heated board meeting between SCEA and Activision, that will be all.

activision wont cut support just because of these comments, but it probably pisses activision off. and there is plenty of ways they can to hurt the ps3 without pulling support, making the 360 the lead consol for all project and doing shitty ports for the ps3. make wii a higher priority.

in the end, sony needs activision more than activision needs sony so it would be in their best interest to not piss them off. i mean, what good is a game consol if no one makes games for it.

It's not in Activisions best interests either, gimping PS3 versions of games will ultimately effect sales, which directly effects Activision's revenue/profit not Sony's. That is a double edged sword.

The multiplatform games of Activision/EA are not going to make or break a console. Exclusives make or break a console, that's why when Konami/S-E complained about PS3 price Sony said nothing and lowered the price. Activision lose a lot of their own power because they make all their games multiplatform.

Jack Tretton needs to keep his mouth shut. PS3 is not a platform that Activision really needs to develop for, and are doing it for hopeful profits in the future. If he doesn't keep his mouth shut he could lose the support of the now biggest 3rd party developer. Someone in Sony needs to slap him.

Resistance and R&C took 20+ gigs? Really? How? 10 gigs of sound?

Zucas, if you think that Activison are even thinking about droping support over this you are insane.

Without making their games multiplatform Activision will not be the biggest 3rd party developer. Are Activision prepared to lose no1 status to try and make a point to Sony? Dropping PS3 support is dropping PS2 support as well since Sony decide what goes on their platform and what doesn't.

Activisions revenue/profit would take a severe cut in them trying to make a point...

It goes to show though that Sony don't give a f*** about Activision. They would NEVER say that to Konami/S-E.

Hah I can see why he snapped there though... in the interview he seems to get more and more pissed at the interviewer. This guy isn't going to get another interview from Sony any time soon. He's about to rip his head off in the blueray vs HDVD stuff.

That doesn't defeat the point that that ape Tretton needs to shut the fuck up.  Cause limited support is almost the exact same thing as no support.  Ask the Gamecube haha.

And jhlennon, whether you like it or not, Sony is in no posistion right now to drop any support from anyone. If Activision did drop support on PS3, they can not afford to whine like a bitch and say well you can't develop on PS2, cause in the end that would hurt Sony more than Activision.

Sony is not in the same posistion as it was 2 years ago. Times have changed.
