Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Expand Xbox LIVE Rewards Programme; Offer Free Games

Electronictheatre

Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Rewards Programme has received much attention since its launch late last year, offering gamers an incentive to keep doing what they would generally be doing anyway. From renewing their annual Xbox LIVE Gold subscription to purchasing content from the Xbox LIVE marketplace, gamers can earn Microsoft Points simply by engaging in the usual activities of an Xbox LIVE gamer. However, Microsoft has now expanded the Rewards Programme by offering not just bonus Microsoft Points, but an assortment of free games.

Over the past weekend Microsoft contacted select Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers to offer a special ‘VIP Exclusive’ promotion. Given a passcode and access to a previously private page on the official Xbox website, xbox.com, VIP Exclusive Xbox LIVE Gold members had the opportunity to win a bundle pack of Kinect software, including Kinect Sports, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and EA SPORTS Active 2. What’s more, all VIP Exclusive Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers were given a new Adidas outfit for their Xbox LIVE Avatar – male or female – and the promise of much more to come in the future.Exactly what is required to become part of the Xbox LIVE VIP Exclusive club is not currently known, though it’s likely that you will have had to have been an Xbox LIVE Gold subscriber for a number of years, and regularly purchase content from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on VIP Exclusive promotions, and the Xbox LIVE Rewards Programme.

Not available on my region = EU. That's it for gold membership.

Meh doesn't affect me much. In some cases the rewards are pitiful, and "number of years" kills me as I've only been a gold member for about 17 months.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Yes because getting free stuff for something you were going to do anyways is just plain stupid.

This is one of the reasons, the gap between Sony and MS is growing in EU.

MS is not really interested in this region. We don't have anything like the reward program.

No Netflix, no ESPN, no Sky Player (only in UK, although sky Germay wanted to install it, too), zune with a bad and expensive library, no JAM-FM, no kinect voice control...

Wait, we got the facebokk-app. And twitter.

The truth is, microsoft doesn't care. They seem to think that they don't really need this region.
