IMO this is a good thing in a way... It proves how useless trophies are (ohhh I want to shoooow off how many trophiez I got in Dis Game Dooood).


How? How do losers that need to hack trophies compare to people that put in the serious time and effort to get them? If anything, this makes trophies useless because anyone can get them now but before this, trophies showed that you really put alot of effort into mastering a game. You can't say that a hack shows the concept of a trophy system is pointless. 


But I never get a sense of achievement because it doesn't affect my game at all in any way. Leveling up in an MMO and being able to use a new weapon through that level up is more of an achievement because in game you gain strength, etc. Trophies and achievements do no such thing (from what I've seen and done).


So the world must feel the same way as you?

I think that was self explainatory.

If taking your post in relation to the thread, you're implying that millions of people have hobby of collecting trophies, which are now practically rendered as pointless as anyone can get them.

Again, you wishing someone misfortune just because he inevitably if accidentaly caused that? He did after all attempt to prevent it via firmware. By the way, it is highly unlikely he'll get "raped by Sony".

Here's hoping Sony comes up with a quick fix soon :( it's a shame this had to happen though, seriously. Especially with the release of DCUO, and future releases of UC3, KZ3, R3, and other great titles.. I don't want to see these games get plagued by hackers due to someone feeling the need to expose the systems security code.

I don't think Piracy can be stopped now bar release of new console but that would mean abandoning PS3. Even if they release a revision of Slim, I think it will still use exactly the same codes otherwise the previous PS3 games will not be compatible with it, so kind of ruining the point of releasing a new revision. I don't think there is a fix for Piracy or introduction of homebrew software. What Sony can do however is ban/punish the users who use the hack maliciously, game cheating, trophy glitching etc, but I think someone mentioned before that Sony has no way to tell the difference between legitimate trophies or the ones that have been glitched, so they'll likely just get away with it.

This severly upsets me :( so much for people earning their platinums.. Do you have a feeling that Sony may strike a deal with George Hotz and possibly hire him?

Wouldn't they be better off hiring the failoverflow team?  They are the ones who came up with the hack in the first place.  Either way it wouldn't help Sony at all, as the keys are already out there and other hackers have already started using it for piracy and this trophy hack.

All depends on how you look at it.

I can use cheat codes/gameshark to use that weapon you took hours leveling up to use.
I can use hacks to get that trophy that took a crazy a one man army in MAG  to get.

Honestly, why hack your trophies? It  destroys the whole sense in them.

That's the lamest thing ever in gaming (using the hack to get trophies you never earned). Trophies only matter between friends (and in trophy leagues like our own). So people who hack to get trophies are being false and duplicitous to their friends...NICE!

Strangely enough I remember when MS tried to block people from doing this on the 360. People here were pissed. Calling MS greedy along with a few other thinggs :3
