Forums - Microsoft - Ubisoft: We're Number One on Kinect

Industrygamers

Microsoft's Kinect camera has been doing pretty well for itself, selling 8 million units in 60 days. Third-party publishers, for the most part, have been pretty enthusiastic about the motion peripheral, throwing their support behind it. One of the big believers from the start was Ubisoft, and today the French publisher declared that it was number one on Kinect in 2010.

Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America, stated: “We believed in the potential of Kinect from the start and we set out to be the leading third-party publisher. It worked. But this is only the beginning for us. We’ll be bringing some of the industry’s most innovative offerings to Kinect soon, starting with Michael Jackson The Experience, Child of Eden and others. We will have something for everyone.”

Ubisoft started on Kinect with three titles:  Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, MotionSports, andFighters Uncaged. Ubisoft said it intends to be number one on Kinect once again in 2011.  Michael Jackson The Experience on Kinect will hit stores on April 12, 2011. As for Child of Eden, from renowned game creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi, an exact release date hasn't been pinned down yet.

Unless they mean that they have the most games out for Kinect (besides MS of course) ;-p

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

yeah i think this is closer, but i think they are talking about 3rd party. Dance Central looks to have beaten all 3 singlehandedly unless severly undertracked/ overtracked of the other games. I think it is...

Impressive

I'd never seen it so clearly until now but Non-Nintendo systems might actually be better for 3rd parties to find success like this - - It seems they don't face the same competition as they do on N systems due to N themselves

EDIT: Oh they might be talking about third parties? well then it's not that impressive then - - - I mean somebody had to be #1 XD

Still, great for Ubi I guess

3rd parties seem to pride themselves on xbox and ps3 compared to wii for some reason. I really dont understand. Seriously wtf is ubisoft bragging about this?

Its cool that third party developers talking that serious about kinect. I see legs in the life span of Kinect. Thus, to be honest 8 million user base is not a number to be ignored by anyone...
