Forums - Microsoft - Home-made animation movies with Kinect?

Is Kinect going to help trigger a huge growth in home-made animated films?  If people can easily translate their image, Avatar style, into any creature their imagination can devise then Kinect could be one of the most useful film creation devices ever.  Some custom software could easily create a ghollum, a Shrek, a Buzz lightyear, etc.  The only limitation is how artistic the creator is-- plus software could even help match stock generic images to your own form.  A few amateur actors could create full-feature films on a shoe-string budget.  The hardest part would be creating the scenery, but clever film-makers could use a blend of real-world imagery and CGI.  If real-world objects could be motion-scanned in, it would be simple to create a home-made film Little Big Planet style.

Right. Professional-quality cameras and editing software (for e.g. green screens) have become cheap enough for amateurs within the last five years, but there hasn't been much good film-making by them because you still have to put the effort into concept, writing and acting. Kinect has great potential outside of gaming though.

Maybe a bit off topic but they are using kinect also in minecraft now:
