Forums - PC - Good lord, the Physics in crysis is absurd (video included)

I always liked this one (music is much better too):

Around the Network

the music rocks
the video is cool to i guess

Consoles I own: Dreamcast, PSP

I think real life would start lagging if you tried that. o_O

I'm don't think people really understand how far this is above what consoles can process right now.  A couple more fun ones.

The real-time nuclear explosion:

In-game explosions of someone piling stuff up:

man, do you know the name of that song naz? That's frikkin sweet.

I like your video better too just because of the mood of it. I can't stand that death metal with those vocals and all (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Amazing videos. On the other hand I doubt that this is more than could be done on consoles. The PS3 for example has enough number-crunching capability to outcompete every PC for physics computations. I just needs to be used.

Here is an article about a coming "Gameframe" from IBM that has a Z-MainFrame for world data storage and Cell processors that handle physics and object interaction for the server side of big MMORPGs.

Looks pretty accurate. Much more pleasing and real to the eyes than the crates. The explosions were a little over the top though, but interesting design. I mean, they can't make "everything" be completely accurate.

...are you serious kryos? Or is that another joke post?

If you're serious Aside from the cell my year and a half old (and outdated) PC has far higher specs than the PS3, and the cell alone does not compensate for ram, processing speed, ect. The PS3 is nowhere near as strong as a decent gaming PC that's up to date. I'm sorry, but that's not arguable.

The song is "Pretty Pet" from the band Aberdeen City. Great band.

We were talking about physics. And in this area the PS3 is much more powerful than any PC on the market. This is essentially what the Cell is for. Lots and lots of floating point computations. Just look at folding@home.
