Forums - Microsoft - mouse & keyboard control comes from 3RD party to the xbox

LAS VEGAS--Ask any hardened PC gamer and they'll tell you there's no better way to control a first-person shooter than a mouse-and-keyboard combination. We completely agree, and with the Eagle Eye 360 from Penguin United, Xbox 360 gamers can do just that.

While the company has already had a PlayStation 3 offering that provides the same functionality, the Xbox 360 version is new forCES. The device can bind all of the Xbox 360 controller commands to mouse and keyboard buttons and store up to two key-mapping schemes.

You'll need a wired Xbox 360 controller for the initial setup though it isn't required thereafter. A 13-foot USB cable connects the device to the console, which should provide ample room for any gaming environment.

We're hoping to get fragging with the Eagle Eye 360 when it's available soon for $60.

Hasn't MS tried to ban these devices in the past or am I mistaken? I personaly do not know of games I would use it for. RTS would be the only one, but I have kinect now and that may be one of its few areas to shine.

I would definitely use it with Halo Wars and other RTS games but it would be an unfair advantage for FPS games.

How would they ban something like this though?

My gues would be through firmware updates, especialy since its physically connected to the 360. Same way they dont allow other hard drives? Not to sure my self. But I'm interested enough to google it now. If I find anything I will post it

Edit: a quick google shows I was wrong. There are actually other ones out already, although they have varying reviews

Ah ok...I would actually like something like this for RTS games though.  Maybe they could find a way to only let it work with RTS games, although that would probably be too much work.

THeres a couple of these devices for PS and XBOX, but they dont work all that well to capture the actual M/KB experience. If either of those 2 had any brains they would allow a branded M/KB combo to work with their systems........but those guys would rape the controller users.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

usb ban, simply ban the address the unit is trying to use.
