Forums - Gaming - what if china and india became gaming countries

ThePS3News said:

Well china is a communist country so if they did get into the gaming industry the government of china would be in control of it. There would only be one developer being the government.

As for India they are a 3rd world country and i dont think they are economically powerful enough to develop games. Also i don't think they have the tools and resources to make games.

As for all the other things you said though i agree. Online community's would be way bigger and funnier. And the console's would have a much much bigger install base.

The government is already controlling it. Companies like Nintendo needs to be sponsored by a Chinese company (in this case iQue) in order to sell there.

On topic, more gamers there is, better it is. Particularly with the raising cost in development.

Just because China is a Communist country, doesn't mean that the government would be in complete control of it.   There are tons of factories in China that produce tires, chairs, cars, scooters, etc...  The government doesn't step in and tell them exactly what to produce and how many.

From my understanding China already have legions of animators that work in the cartoon industry.  So they could transition a lot of those guys over into the gaming industry.  A gaming company could have a few top guys from different countries come in and lead the programming department, level design etc.. and then have those animators crank out the rest.  (this is just a basic break down in gaming.  lots of other stuff is needed but it gets the point across)  Certainly wouldn't take as much time to get it started as a lot of people think.

Your right in the sense that a chinese company can easily decide to get manpower and builds game. The problem is when an outside company want to sell in china.

The thing is that it won't be an "outside" company.  Most of its staff would be Chinese, with just the head honcho's being foreign.
