Forums - PC - New graphics card recommendation!

Hello, dear VGchartz-ers! I need your help on something; recently, I bought a brand new LG 3D 120Hz monitor + Nvidia's shutter glasses and have been enjoying stereoscopic gaming via 3D Vision.

As soon as I turn on the 3D though, FPS drop about 40-50% which becomes a problem on games like Starcraft 2, Call of Duty : Black Ops, etc. I currently own a 9800GT; could you advise me on what GPU I can upgrade to?

My budget is in the 200-300$ range, and needless to say, it must be a nVidia GPU to support Vision 3D. Also, does anyone know an online retailer that accepts Paypal payments and ships to Greece? Thanks in advance.

GTX 470 and GTX 560 are your options really. The 560 won't be out until late January.

Haha. I actually expected you to reply first

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking as well. GT450 is not that powerful, right? And I saw GT580 but are at hefty 300-400$ tags which is out of my league really.

I agree with the GTX 560 but the 470 to be honest is a bit of a rip off.

Well I'd like to throw the HD 6870 and 6950 in there but he specified Nvidia for the 3D so if you buy now that's the only realistic choice. At $250 in the US it's not bad value, don't know what you can get in Greece though.

We haven't seen reviews or pricing on the 560 yet, but if it's 384 shaders/820MHz as rumoured and <$250 also then that would be great value.

@rout

Yes; 3D is demanding so a GTS 450 wouldn't be enough of an upgrade, and GTX 480 or 570 is above your price range for not much more performance. The GTX 460 1GB would probably be OK if the 470/560 was far too expensive.

I believe ATI 6870-6950 support 3D as well if you want to add greater range to get within price range.

But will those glasses work for those ATI graphics cards?

Also Ebay.co would be the place to look

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
