The PS3 controller is the Dualshock 3,an improved version of PS2's controller,Dualshock 2.

You said it yourself,you want a slightly better controller.That means an improved version of the actual 360 controller.

It'll probably be a different shape if they try to incorporate some sort of motion control in the actual controller. However that is dependent on what direction they take the camera technology and how far they want to go in that direction because that'll also dictate what the controller has to be able to do and what it doesn't need to be able to do.
