well SONY have been right in many new waves of formats or cultural technology swings. First with small radios, then portable CD players, the DVD and player and Blu Ray. But now they are pushing an new format ontop of there Blu Ray push which is 3D. 

An SONY hasn't done an format wrong and i believe there wont be an PS4

it will be called the PS3D 

it will be the central hub for all 3D content 



Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

The new Batman movie isn't going to be in 3D. They say they are instead opting for an all out IMAX experience.

Dark Knight was only partially shot in IMAX.

but on the other hand if you follow movie business,all studios are really greedy and with the current 3D craze,they are all making 3d movies but NOLAN isn't.

if they force him then he will leave thats why i said they don't want to piss him off

Guys IMAX is the shiznet imo...I don't go see many movies in theatres BUT the ones I do, I mostly go to Imax. it's a bit more expensive but the experience is so frigging awesome. Inception in Imax was amazing!

Expensive, but I guess they think it is worth it. I guess Sony feels that by getting bigger and more diversified and trying to go for synergies within their business structure inclusive of Imax would be more profitable in the longer term.

C. Nolan filmed some sequences in the dark knight using IMAX cameras but of course not for 3d but for better resolution. They even managed to smash one.

Honestly i've seen The Dark Knight in IMAX, and the IMAX footage is incredible. imo IMAX is the future of cinema, especially with films like Avatar, so i think this is an excellent move. Sony are in the film buisness already, so i'm guessing they know about how awesome it is!

ive seen tron 3d in imax,  

 it was good but eh nothing a normal theater screen cant handle , just bigger screen lol ,

its not specail you pay like 15 per person at a imax theater here vs 6 and change

so its not worth it to me ,
