All those polls placing the PS3 on top are with regards to the hardware potential but the PS3 is so hard to program for that not many developers will unlock that potential.
Besides, it is nice to see Americans supporting an American companies product over a foreign company.
The Japanese sure as hell don't support American products over their own.
