Forums - Gaming - I found this 'software' online and I FIXED Final Fantasy XIV's lag!!

When did you start using this?

I only ask because shortly after the game came out you suggested I download the newest video drivers to get rid of lag because after doing that you didn't experience any lag.  If you didn't experience any lag before, what did this fix for you?

I'm not trying to be mean here, it's just I know you have a giant hard-on for FFXIV (and that's fine) but I also know you will say pretty much anything to make FFXIV seem like the better game.

I started using this software last week. The only noticeable lag was when I was in the MASSIVE area outside of The Black Shroud, which is Coerthas (and there is a city-state that SE is still making that resides in Coerthas that is named Ishgard). Plus I was having UI lag (just a tiny bit), but the REAL culprit from this actually lag I was having was the hacked NVIDIA drivers I downloaded from Laptops2Go I was using drivers for the new GeForce 580 GTX, and those drivers are unavailable to use with the 480 GTX and below cards.

And as I mentioned above, the minor lag is also due to the graphics processing to render the landscapes and character models. This GBoost software strips the Windows Vista/7 Aero and everything else on the OS to the bare minimum in order to GREATLY increase the performance of any game without sacrificing quality due to the graphics processing. My mom's friend, Steve, can't play FFXIV on his PC due to his Intel/AMD (or whatever he has) processor. The processor on your PC is ALSO a factor as well! I have tried using GBoost on my laptop, but that still gives me lag because the processor on it is a Intel Core2 Duo; the one on my desktop is an Intel i7 860. But my desktop gives me very little to no lag when playing (when I did not have GBoost installed), it's just certain areas of the game would give me lag, and that's it

Oh, and NVIDIA DID state that their newest drivers (released a week and a half later) were optimized for FFXIV, but as I mentioned on the above paragraph and on a recent post on this thread, the MAIN reason why FFXIV is lagging is because of all the background processes on our computers as well as the GPU needing to use Windows' Aero. Using GBoost will strip (disable) all of that so that all the GPU processing is centered on FFXIV and only on it.

I still want to get one of the newer NVIDIA GPUs, though, and really see this game run That will fix my lag more without using GBoost.

Good, now about the other million things that need to be fixed in that abomination of a game.

Rob do you have ANYTHING good to say about ANY FF game? Half your posts talk about hating something FF related. But...yeah FFXIV has some issues that need to be fixed.

I love FFIV-FFIX. I praise aspects of FF10 and FF13 that I enjoy (even if I enjoyed less of them than I found faults in them). FF10 had great pacing, an excellent soundtrack and the peak of turn based battle systems. FF13 had an excellent battle system, art design, music, setting. However I have nothing positive to say about FF12 or FF14 apart from graphics, I feel both games have too many problems and I didn't enjoy them at all.

weren't you bad-mouthing ff X and FF XIII in another thread?
