Forums - Gaming - Question: why do people respond seriously to Pachter?

People just don't understand his job.  They say he sucks at his job yet he hasn't gotten fired, that tells you something.  A big company isn't going to keep an analyst that sucks, cause their are plenty of analysts.  But, posters have a narrow minded view and assume that since they don't get why he still has his job, he shouldn't have his job.  Just because you don't see his purpose, that doesn't mean he has no purpose.

What bugs me about Pachter is that he happens to have gotten to a place of relevance, where saying his name, and what he says, will draw attention, and eyeballs and opinions.  Once someone gets to that point, they are self-sustaining, so he can be dog blasted clueless regarding what he is supposed to be an expert in, and his predictions end up carrying weight, and getting people to care.  Such individuals are not healthy for the industry to have around at all.

So, Pachter can be incredibily wrong so often (see my link below) and it doesn't matter.  He gets draw up as some sort of swami with a crystal ball in images on here.  He gets front page link on here, whenever he belches anything about videogames.  Even if it is wrong to the point of being useless, it doesn't matter.  Just post, and watch the fanboys get all upset about it, which generates PAGES of posts in a thread like this, and more eyeballs to be able to run advertising past.  He then makes money, so gets more coverage.
