Can The Last Story usurp Final Fantasy as the best selling console JRPG?

It reminds be a bit of Killzone 2.


At best it looks like a Final Fantasy knock off, from the name, to the posters, the music, it's a Final Fantasy game.

The internet knows it but not the people out there, the consumers who aren't as aware as we are of these kind of things. So that's why the hype looks impressive when you go on a forum but it won't translate the same in real actual sales. That's the problem with most new IPs.

Look at God Eater. It had very good sales for a new IP and was a good game but it never reached Monster Hunter numbers. Not that anyone expected it, though.

That's why I'm really surprised anyone would expect The Last Story to do FF-like numbers.

Its being advertised like a Final Fantasy. Store placements month before launch, adverts on TV for the conference.

Are you sure that ad was on TV? I thought it was only a promotional video on the internet.

I doubt this game will outsell monster hunter tri. Not that it won't deserve it but this game has no casual appeal and the best selling wii game without casual appeal is resident evil 4 at 1.8mil. Maybe if they find a way to attract the casual audience which I think would end up ruining the game, but without them it has no shot at all of getting near final fantasy numbers.

Just came into this thread to say that this game looks like it will be amazing.

But now I have to say that while FFVII is deffinitley the greatest game of all time, I think we've had many great FF games since. Actually now that I think of it every main installment since then has been amazing.

Yeah it stands at 25 points right now. Now don't ask me how points translante into actual sales 'cause I don't know! But to achieve Final Fantasy numbers, it would have to be at approximately 4000 points I think. It's currently increasing at a ~5 points per day.

It's probably going to increase faster after the conference and closer to the release date but I don't think it will get much higher than 300-400 points. That's like 150-250k FW.

Check best sellers in Amazon Japan for Pre-orders.

lol no. Check COMG. It's not super reliable but it's much more reliable than amazon.
