Psshh....the 360 was suppose to die this year.....how does a dead console sell a million in a week? Ill tell you , it doesnt.....

YOU tell me....wasnt PS3 suppose to get discontinued like 3 years ago(2007)? how is it still selling  well?

Again pssh....thats nothing.....the 360 was suppose to be discontinued with the release of the ps3 which was 2006 btw.

But hey look on the bright side.....no more talk about dead consoles until next year when the 360 will again have to prove itself to teh awesome brand power of sony which they still clearly have......fun times ahead I always say.

Again wasn't PS3 suppose to get discontinued 3 years ago? and just last year b4 Ps3 slim  effect I thought It wasn't gonna help ps3 sales?

Next year your right tho when PS3 gets price cut its gonna be 2009 all over again fun times indeed. =.=

Geez fellas, all 3 are supposed to be dead right now according to the detractors of each console.  All it means is that there are people from all 3 sides that make ignamonious projections and we're all the better for ignoring them and not using their ignorance as bullet points in debates.

Don't anybody dare say anything negative about the 360 in these parts. Very pro 360 as to be expected from an american site. Did anyone else notice it getting its butt smacked by a little inferior box?

I love how this site is ALWAYS referred to as bias for a different console every time I go to the forums. I guess that means the site really must be unbias considering I've seen the site called Playstation bias, Nintendo bias, and now Xbox bias. But your logic about it being an "american" site isn't quite true. The founder of the site is not even from America....He's from England I believe.

And don't you know that England has been annexed as a colony 51st state by MS USA?

My mistake...I guess I missed that new story due to the sale that's going on right now on steam. :'(

It was a necessary step to avoid falling into international irrelevance after Scotland seceded and proclaimed Sean Connery king.

Actually GT5 was bundled as well. You didn't think it sold those numbers NOT being bundled, did you?

http://news.punchjump.com/blog/2010/12/23/gamestop-offers-50-bonus-with-ps3-gt5-bundle/

This was more recent, and we haven't seen its effect yet. This week, it's just the Best Buy bundle. So yes, actually non-bundled games did account for quite a portion of its sales.

Sony bundled their games just as much as Microsoft so enough with excuses fellows.

*SIgh* Have you not been following the conversation?! I am not saying bundled games don't count! I am saying the American sales comparison between GT5 and Forza 3 is fallacious, because GT5 hasn't been bundled nearly as much as Forza 3 in the Americas. Not yet, at least. It's that simple.

Why is the slightest of criticism taken as attacks on quality or downplaying? I've criticized where it's due, and given credit where it's due. Seriously, at least deal with the person who started the whole silly debate.

This game is selling incredibly well!

Nintendo's doing an amazing job with it in the west.  I think VGC may be slightly undertracking American sales too, but we'll find out for sure when we get Nintendo annual report next year.

The game is the second best selling Dragon Quest in the west!

Well deserved man, this game is amazing

Awesome. I have the game, but I'm still trying to finish DQ IV right now and I still have DQ V to play too. So it may be awhile before I get to enough this game.

To clear some things up, specific shops did GT5 bundle deals, but there was no official universal bundle. Huaxiong90 - there is no official bundle in the US for GT5, just to clear that up.

There was nothing announced by Sony, that's true. Still Amazon, Target and Gamestop did bundles GT5 bundles for the U.S.  Not sure if Best Buy or Walmart did the bundles. Anyways, the bundles were readily available in all regions at launch time.

No one has definitive numbers on how many bundles sold  -vs- how many individual games sold. It's clear that most individual units probably sold by the sales of the PS3 over the last 3 weeks. I don't think GT5 pushed a whole lot of PS3's.

It pushed enough PS3s to keep it in good standing though. It's down a bit YoY, but would have done noticeably worse without GT5.

In Europe and Japan maybe, yes, but definitely not so much in the U.S. The Move probably pushed more PS3 then GT5 in America. You'll notice, even now, the strongest sales that are staying high is in Europe. GT5 sales are dying out everywhere else. It still did better then I thought it would.

170,000 for the past three weeks isn't dying out in any shape. We'll see what it does in the weeks following Jan 1, but Japan is the only region where GT5 has seemed to quiet down (and of course, this leaves out the possiblity of official bundles in that region.

Sony isn't by any means bundling, marketing and otherwise pushing its strongest and more distinctive franchises with the same intensity MS and Ninty are doing. I wonder whether it's reserving these moves for later, to extend PS3 life and also to increase its sales again later, when its production costs will be lower, or if it's even currently keeping deliberately a lower profile than its competitors to prevent them from having even the slightest temptation to start next gen too early...

GT5 launched in Japan with an official bundle, and a new color even (Titanium Blue).
