Forums - Gaming - Gamespot Reviews Removed from Game Rankings

I honestly think they have been having some problems with the Gamerankings site.

One day, all the totals were rounded to the nearest percentage. The next day, there were expressed out to three decimal places. Previously, they had been displayed to two decimal places.

Also, I could not get the search function to bring up a list of worst games ... it just kept giving me the best ones.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

So are R & C n Uncharted AAA NOW??
No, bad sales and they did not move hardware.

Right. High Sales = Quality, Low Sales = Shit. I forgot.

LOL that would be a great comback if thats what he meant.....

Usually for some people AAA is

1Quality game

2. Moves hardware

3. Good sales.

Which he is saying that they are missing 2 and 3. However my definition of AAA is a great game.

AAA is a marketing term for games with very large budgets. It basically means "heavily hyped game" rather than "good game". Nonetheless, forum dwellers find it necessary to try to equate this marketing term with some sort of concept of quality.

I estimate that the forum stupidity precipitated by the term AAA has set back the progress of mankind by decades.

Why was it necessary to source gonintendo for something I posted when you can just go to GameRankings and see for yourself?  Especially when they reported it as if it were intentional.  Sheesh, some people.

Combine that with the collective forum stupidity of every other gaming site abusing the term and we're back to the middle ages. =P

WRONG

http://kotaku.com/gaming/urging-calm/gamerankings-drops-gamespot-review-scores-334340.php

GameRankings editor Lee Alessi writes today on his GameSpot blog, "No, I didn't get rid of their data 'on purpose'. I honestly have no clue how it disappeared and before anyone asks---no, I didn't delete the site. I am no Tech but I will take a guess and say there will have to be a restored backup to get close to 10,000 in reviews and 60,000 in other articles back on GR."

As usual, a false story comes out and everybody runs with it regardless of how untrue it sounds. Now you have the actual truth once again.

How does that prove him wrong? Were the reviews there before? Yes. Are they there now? No. They were removed. It may not have been intentional, but they were still removed. If you can't post respectfully then please save all of us the trouble of your company and don't post at all.

It's pretty simple.  It wasn't removed, they just disappeared through error.  When everything disappears off the main page of VGCharz it wasn't removed, it's due to an error.  It's the same way Harmonix just comes out and says Activision won't let them put out the patch and everybody starts railing on Activision for it.  Then you wait a little bit and Activision responds and things become a little more clear.

It was a respectful post and your welcome for spending the time to get the link and quote and providing an answer for the whole thread.  Things like this should always register on peoples BS meters and hopefully they'll wait and find out more next time.

like I said before though.

Okami = AAA title and its missing #2 and #3 from your list.

Now you are missing his point. He's saying your definition of AAA is not the same as yojimbo's. Yojimbo's definition is a game of high quality that also pushes hardware and has good sales. You are just defining it as high quality.

I know that.. I was backing up his statement not going against it.. lol

For now anyway. With any hope the Wii will fix that. They should slap a big "IGN's game of the year" sticker on the front.
