Forums - Sony - Prediction: PSP2 will get as many games as 3DS the first year.

i dont think it will have a larger quantity but i think it will have better quality.

psp didnt start badly, its because of the piracy and missing thumb stick that companies just gave up on it, hopefully psp2 wont face that problem.

Despite good HW sales in total the PSP software has been completely dead outside of Japan for many years. I since the PSP2 will suffer of that. The third parties will not back as much a console where the sales have been so disappointing software wise.

The 3DS will win the console war, I think it's already a given. It has everything on its side. So I think the PSP2 will not get as many games as the 3DS as the 3DS is getting all the support that the DS lacked due to his limited power. All third parties seem ready to make the 3DS the next standard.

they have more 3rd party support than psp but face it, how many of those games are actully good?

big names (e.g. call of duty) are on DS but their not exactly great games, its the reputation of the console/pc version that sells them on handheld.

Lol, dude, if you want 3DS games, get a 3DS. PSP2 will get Uncharted spin off, some SCE franchises, maybe some 3rd party franchises, and then die a quick death as the 3DS picks up steam.

I don't think so for one reason alone.

Better hardware needs bigger teams or more time to develop for. For this reason alone there cannot be as many games in the first year given the fact that Nintendo seemed more prepared for their launch.

Tease.

Don't expect us to apologize when you're right...

How can any post contain this much win in a such a short time span?

OT: Sounds logical, Rock. As with the PS4, I'm hoping Sony learns valuable lessons after the PS3/PSP (even though the PSP is a bigger winner when considering nobody has ever been able to keep this close to Nintendo in a section of the market they've always dominated).

I really don't expect the PSP2 to match 3DS at all with sales, but just like kinect and move, good or bad games, PSP2 will have support.

I do see a lot of these  3ds "exclusives" also getting announced for psp2 when it is officially revealed

Time for hype

I feel like the PSP already gets plenty of ports from the DS and the app store I only think the trend would continue. It will only be easier sell this time around as the systems are more similar in specification so it's less work than before and the trackpad on the back would probably help ease the transition from touchscreen controls. As companies like Atlus show It's a great way for smaller publishers japanese and western to get a little more profit from their initial investment.

In short I concur.  I honestly see the 3DS and PSP2 being much more like the PS3 and 360 than the landslide of the DS vs PSP.  Mostly similar third party library with the exception of 1st party titles which of course for the masses will lean in Nintendo's favor but neither being considered a big loser(lest they are constantly compared to the DS in which case every system is a big loser sans the PS2).
