side note: im just not sure the indusrty could take a hit like that?(current) 44, 47, and 79m gamers displaced by the abrupte leave of a console maker.

thats millions of dollars lost, and with this war getting more and more personal every yr! it would be hard for those devoted fans (fanboys) to move to supporting there rival and biting the bullet.

it was easy for sega fans cause there was no real war when sega pulled the pluge on the dreamcast. gamers have taken this war to seriously and way past to far!

MS, they used to have really good PC game studios, and they are nomore due to the current way they are running the gaming division with the xbox360, if they get out of the console game, we might see good PC games from them again. /shrug Yes I do think their current 1st and 2nd party games are lacking a lot of depth in general, I mean a whole lot.

Sony, they have yet to bring anything new to the video game table. They by far make the least amount of money out of the 3 companies and just mimic what their competitions do and then feed it to their existing fanbase

Microsoft. Their gaming values mesh the least with my own, and i can't even claim they provide good competition, because they're fighting asymmetrically to my console maker of choice (though that latter point goes for Sony as well), so Microsoft's efforts are not going to prompt indirect positive results for me (unlike for a PS3 owner, who's seen the PS3 experience improve vastly from the beginning through direct competition with the 360)

I'm not viciously stumping for their departure or anything, though. That same asymmetry means that Microsoft's presence in the industry, while having no positive impact on my experience, lacks a negative impact as well.

With microsoft out of consoles, they would focus on PC gaming...which would mean more Halo and Gears of war to PC and better gfwl in general.  On the other hand if they focused only on gfwl they might give it a subscription fee...hmm.

I find Sony to be quite douchie, but they are good competition to Nintendo.

Handhelds. They keep stealing the games I like, wipeout, valkyria chronicles, now paper mario. I don't like to game on a 5 inch screen. I have a psp with wipeout pure and no, just doesn't compare.
