Forums - Sony - Will the PSPhone and rumoured PSPad damage PSP2's marketshare?

It seems everywhere their is rumours swirling about the PSPad and tons of talk of Sony's new PSPhone but this got me thinking. Could all these devices actually damage Sony's marketshare?

PSPhone is the biggest threat I see for PSP2 with the exception of 3DS. Why? Because the PSPhone will be essentially a new PSP. Many consumers who go out and get the thing free with a 3 year plan or so aren't going to be as interested in buying a PSP2. Apple has claimed that consumers with I-Pad's will choose to avoid having an extra gaming gadget in their pockets. But wouldn't that be even more true with the PSPhone? Gamers would be carrying essentially two PSP's with them everywhere or on trips. Also dumb consumers like mom's and dad's (Sorry not all are dumb but many are) will get their kids a PSPhone and not see the point in buying them PSP2's.

Now the rumoured PSPad. A Sony gamer will already have a PSPhone but when choosing PSP2 or PSPad, which offers a more unique experiance. Now not much is known about the rumoured PSPad except that it will likely be a touch screen tablet computer. If this turns out to be true Which will an average Sony gamer buy the new PSPad competing against the I-Pad or a new PSP2?

Or will Sony fans shell out like Apple fans do. Apple gets away with launching a new I-Pad, I-Phone and I-Pod pretty much every year and Apple fans buy all three regardless of economic conditions. Could the PSPhone , PSPad and PSP2 all be supported equally without taking sales from one another?

I've never heard a PSPad rumor :o Sounds interesting.

To be honest, I doubt that most "Sony Gamer"s will have a PSPhone, let alone all of them. The PSP is still the only option in most of their minds. I don't think that the PSPhone is going to take off, and I don't think that the marketshare will be damaged by that, or by the PSPad.
